I just adopted a 1.5 yr old border collie last weekend. He has his first vet check today, but im curious if this is the "collie eye" i have read about. He appears to have a lazy eye. Like one eye will be looking straight, one looking to the side. I keep reading information about the collie eye, and it is talking about retinas and whatnot, and doesnt really explain how to identify this abnormality. Just curious if anyone knows if this is what it is...I know the vet will tell me (hopefully), but im impatient. Thanks!

The link I have included gives information about Border Collie eye disorders. This is a good place to start reading up before you go see your vet today.

To get your Border Collie checked, talk to a qualified Board Certified Ophthalmologist and have your dogs screened. Looking for Collie Eye Anomaly in a Border Collie is something a vet is qualified to diagnose.

A lazy eye usually refers to one eye that is week and does not function because the good eye takes the load of the work. In a human you close off the good eye with a patch and make the weak eye do it's job and strengthen.

#1 ask your vet ...that's why he makes the big bucks.

#2 check some of the dog web site and email a site that has border collies and ask them.

good luck

except your blue merle has an fantastic quantity of white on her head (which alerts merle-to-merle breeding and would reason sight and listening to issues), then she would desire to be in simple terms high quality. congrats on your new domestic dog! she will have the skill to desire a TON of exercising and stimulating activities. I particularly have a sparkling Aussie pup, it extremely is extremely resembling a border collie. i used to have a blue merle aussie - so quite! one in all her eyes replaced right into a million/2 blue and a million/2 brown, and she or he replaced into extremely proper.
