Basically if someone is allergic to cats, does this mean that they would also be allergic to tigers?

The protein found in the saliva of felines is Fel d1. It is the same for all felines.

I was wondering, Michael B, if she was going to get a tiger for a house pet! I've always wanted to pet one and see if it would purr like a house cat, but the opportunity never seems to present itself!

If you got close enough to a tiger to test that theory, allergy would be the least of your troubles.
