It seems it is becoming more and more prevalent. You pay taxes that support programs for people like her. The only thing you could have done is give her a phone number to call. So look up in your phone directory the social service dept in your county and put it in your purse and next time give it along with 50 cents for the call ( or whatever it costs now) You are wise to wonder if she is druggie.

Hi,I know how you feel. I've been there. When my boy friend and I first made love we were both paranoid!! It was really scary. You should just type in early symptoms of pregnancy in google or yahoo or any other search engine. I know only one that scared me to death. When you pee way more then you need to. If he used a condom and did not *** in you then you are okay. It's just that your period is being weird. It happens to a lot of girls. My advice to you is to take a test. You can get it at walgreens or target or any drug store. Also, after having unprotected sex, or if you are worried that something might of went wrong during sex. Buy a pill called emergency contraceptive pill. They have it at pharmacies it is not an on counter medicine. I bought mine from walgreens pharmacy and I paid $40 for it. I hope this info helps you out. I know it might be scary but don't be scared it will be okay. You will get used to it after few more time of making love to your boy friend. And if you are pregnant go to a Plan Parent Hood or any kind of clinic around where you live and they will help you out. If you are not ready for a baby it costs mostly $350 if the baby is not fully developed. Then as the fetus gets bigger they charge more. Good Luck to you.

i live in a big town where everywhere you go people are begging..and you were right in many ways to not give her money. you just dont know what she is goign to do with that money, many people will scam you and look as if they have no money..you cant always tell by the way they lookif you have doubts about a person then dont give your money away. i have occassionalyl given money away, but ONLY if i dont get little red flags in my head saying "watch out!" and most of the people downtown where a live are drug addicts or street kids who are horribly rude. i dont want to give money to them either.
its a judgement call for you really, if you can afford to give away 5 bucks and its no skin off your back what she does with it then feel free to give away your money. on the other hand you need to remember that there are programs that can help people like her and she (and the people like her) have the choice to get on those programs .. unforntunately if there are drugs involved or a mental issue then its hard for people to obay rules and they either getl ocked up or end up back on the street. its just a tough call and there really is no right or wrong answer. homelessness and being poor can be like an endless black hole where theres no way out espcially for the mentally ill and drug addicted people.
your heart was in the right place.. and next time you see someone who needs help just take a moment and listen to your heart.

You were right on the dot when you thought that the Money she was collecting was for Drugs, maybe not for her, but for her mate. In Texas, our state there are a lot of Homeless People who do not have anywhere to go, and some of them are Drug Addicts or Alcoholics. These People are always stationed on the busy Highways trying to make People give them, Money for their Habit, they are always with some Placards, stating they are looking for a Job, and are in need of Money for Food. The next time you see them they are so drugged, that they do not know where to go, and they always are asleep in an overpass, under a bridge. I do not give them any money, because they usually want the Money for their Habit.

You must be a person with a Huge heart to care about a street beggar. I feel the same way too when I see people begging on the streets. Well, you can never be sure weather they really need help or a fix. It all depends on how you feel or will feel about it. For example, I almost always give begging children money and it makes me feel good to know that I helped someone. Now, if they misuse that money or use them on their real needs it is all up to them. So just do what will make you feel better.

As street smart as some people are, for all you know she could of stuffed a pillow under her blouse, hit the streets and panhandle for money.
A couple of years ago a couple got busted for panhandling and conning others. They would stand on the corners of the busiest intersections with their kids and hold up signs that read they were broke, needed to feed their kids, etc. Come to find out they lived in another town, would drive from town to town and lived like kings off other people's money.

Chances are in a small town that the person was truly in need of help.
I use to give money to people in the city when I was visiting family but most are just cons...
But in a small town there is not much chance you can panhandle with out attention form the local law taking notice.
If I had to be I would say that was for real....

I would have called someone to help her. Let a local homeless shelter know or even the police. The police will not arrest her, but they may be able to drive her to a homeless shelter or a group home.
If she truly was in need, I don't think she would be standing (pregnant) on a street corner begging for money. There are lots of problems out there to help the needy, especially pregnant women or women w/ children.

Let me tell you being pregnant is no picnic. Especially when trying to get a job. No one will hire you if you are going to need 6 weeks off in less than a year.
If the lady was clean then I would give her money.
If the lady was dirty looking then I would keep driving. However most states in the United States help pregnant mothers out. They don't just let them fend for themselves. If you feel uncomfortable with giving to someone then don't. Usually your instincts are correct.

When I see signs like this I call the police, not to have them arrested or anything. I am having them looked at to help them. There are several programs that could help pay the rent or even for the year..
Just most people are unaware of these programs. That is why I call to the police!! It works!
