I have a 4 year old Chihuahua who has been very healthy up until about 6 months ago. It seems like at least once a week she is spitting up or gagging and sometimes has diahrea. It goes away after one day and she's back to normal but then returns again like a week later. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

I was only asking if anyone has heard of this before. I was not looking for a medical diagnosis. Just to clarify for the people who think I don't know to take my dog to the doctor. Curious is all.

The same thing was happening to my toy poodle, it turned out she was eating somthing she wasn't supposed to when I let her out at night. Maybe if you just watched real closley for a few week or so then you might be able to figure it out.

Listen, no one on here can give you an idea of what's going on with your dog. There are no vets on here. You've described generalised symptoms. It's not possible to diagnose over the internet. We don't know any clinical history.
I know you just want reassurance, but this is not the place for it - Yahoo Answers is NOT the place for medical advice. Please consult a vet.

Is its deworming up to date? If not, that could very likely be it.
It sounds like maybe its diet is a bit rich for him. Maybe a change of food could help. Some dogs have sensitive stomachs and u can buy food designed for this prob.
A spoonful of yogurt every now and then will prob also help settle his upset stomach (not too much tho)

A four year old chihuahua most likely from a puppy mill or breeder I would suggest getting a cbc test done.
Im sure you vet will suggest the same thing.

you might be giving the doggy the wrong kind of food. Maybe the food she eats is gining her an upset stomach. I would still go to a vet though just to make sure.

I have a shih Tzu that gets into everything, I would call your vet. Sometimes they chew on things and they get stuck and we never know. Example my dog threw up something really weird turns out it was nylons if she hadn't have done that it would have killed her.
Or your dog my just have food allergies. Goodluck!
