I would say that it is the most major holiday in the US. None of the others have as much hoopla leading up to it.

Certainly the most prominently celebrated.

But if you're asking which holiday is celebrated by the most people, it's probaby Thanksgiving or maybe July 4. Thanksgiving is certainly the most ecumenical religious holiday.

Most religious groups that will not celebrate Christmas (and that includes almost all Jews, not just Orthodox Jews) will celebrate Thanksgiving, though there are some exceptions.

More than likely Thanksgiving is. It has no religious connotations, and thus I would think that everyone in the US would celebrate it except for Jehovah Witnesses, who don't celebrate holidays. July 4th might also apply --- but I would think Thanksgiving would be #1. Of course, most people *do* celebrate Christmas. But there are many people of other religions (Orthodox Jews, some Muslims --- for example) that would not.

If you're asking what holiday is celebrated in the biggest way, then Christmas, certainly. (Unless you think Turkey and fireworks are cooler than presents, I suppose. ;) )
