SURA :
5.51 O you who believe! Take not the Jews and Christians for friends, they are friends one to another. He among you who takes them for friends is one of them.

Reifguy , Help me understand why the Muslims do not help their own people in places like Saudi Arabia when 5 years ago a group of young girls were not allowed to leave a buning building because they could not reach their head scaves . They all died in the fire .

Or why did a teacher ,last month, have to spend time being in jail and threatend with death or lashings because she made a simple mistake in ettiquete ?
Why are the Muslims in the Sudan commiting genocide ?
I can find in the Qu'ran that it says to do so . I can't find in the Qu'ran where it says to help Jews .

Please explain in light of these passeges from SURA 9 :
Don't make be friends with with your disbelieving family members. Those who do so are wrong-doers. 9:23

Allah punished those who disbelieved. 9:26

Only idolaters are unclean. Keep them away from your places of worship. 9:28

Fight against Christians and Jews "until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low." 9:29

Christians and Jews are perverse. Allah himself fights against them. 9:30

Christian Religious Gangsterism on the streets of NY.

I'm glad some people have the guts to stand up for what is right beyond that of stupid religious fervour.

That Muslim man was doing the right thing as a human being; it's not the first time that Muslims have come to the aid of others..and Christians have also stood up for Muslims.
Even in Israel today, in some parts, Muslims and Jews live side by side and are very neighborly to each other.

I think you are missing the point. This man viewed this as an injustice being committed against another human. It didn't matter in the least that he was Jew. When someone can put that aside and come to the rescue of another human, it doesn't matter what their religion is or teaches. Kinda like a modern day "Good Samaritan" story.

You have gotten the meaning of Quranic Verse completely wrong, because the word used for friends is "waliya" which means a protector, therefore implying that do not take their nation as a protector. Your interpretation is in contradiction with the verse that allows muslim men to marry people of the book, how come we can marry them but not be friends with them? so you see, that is the wrong interpretation. And here is a verse about saving someone:

"And
whoever saves a life it is as though he had saved the lives of all
mankind" (5:32).

I am a Christian. with half of my genetic material being Jewish...

There are a lot more Muslims who act out the best ideals of Christianity than most of us know about

there are Muslims in the Middle East who really, siincerey LIKE jews. there are people there who get along

but

this is not NEWS

I am a writer, with a degree in journalism, and I know what drives journalism. It's called advertising. One must attract attention to one's cause to sell advertising. People who like and respect each other and live alongside each other peacefully do not sell advertising.

there are a whole bunch of moderate Muslims---moderate Christians, moderate Jews, who share major belief systems---who you and I would love to dine with, live next door to, and because the media feeds on conflict, this is going to be difficult. Pray.

Pray to our common God of Abraham that we can live together and love each other. Who knows? It might just happen...

I am a Muslim. I think that Muslim man is doing the right thing. Prophet Mohamad (saas), used to visit an old Jewish fallen ill in his house, gave meds and even fed him.

p/s
The Jewish was even a regular daily stone-thrower to the Prophet from one corner. When one day the Prophet didn't see him at the corner, Mohamad (saas) went looking for him fallen ill in his house.

I saw that yesterday.
About 10 youths yelled "Merry Christmas" on the subway, and a small group of Jews yelled, "Happy Hanukkah" back and the youths took offense and started beating the Jews.
A young Muslim man fought through the youths and pulled the emergency chord.

I'm proud of him.

I think it's a human being doing a decent human thing. A couple weeks ago I (jewish) was egged by a black guy on a college campus for being jewish, and another back guy was among those who came over to help.

I am glad there are actually some decent human beings who put race/color/religion aside and understand we are all people.

Maybe he was just being a "good person."

Perhaps we are so colored by extremist views we forgot each of us are still human. At my work, we have folks from all religions (and Atheists). We help each other at times of needs and religion really doesn't come into play. No one pushes their views and no one is offended when subgroups hosts religion specific events. (such as Ramadan dinners and Prayer meetings) I personally do not attend any of them. We respect their rights to practice their views. If you meet an ordinary man who is Islamic, Christian, Jewish, etc... he is still an ordinary man.

I don't think Jews are enemies of Islam. They just want to live their lives in peace. It's the radicals under the misguided leadership using religion as a basis for their actions who cause the problems.
