Curious to know. I know advances in technology say that we had no way to measure previous periods of global temp rise. But what else?

Here are 26 of them (and the scientific reasons why they're wrong).

"for those who are not sure what to believe, here is our round-up of the 26 most common climate myths and misconceptions"

The nov55 site above is a compilation of bad science that ignores the data. To cite just of of the many:

"Oceans regulate CO2 in the atmosphere to the minutest detail"

The data proves that's not true. CO2 levels haven't been above 300 ppm in over 400,00 years. We've pushed them to nearly 400ppm, with no end in site.

Scientists have PROVEN that the extra CO2 is coming from fossil fuels by using "isotopic ratios" as a fingerprint.

Many of the arguments on this site are proven wrong by the Newscientist article. Others are simply absurd. Like:

"not even a mechanism to explain how CO2 creates global warming"

It's been explained many times. CO2 in the atmosphere absorbs heat coming up from the Earth and radiates it in all directions. Some goes back down. It acts something like a partially transparent mirror. This is VERY basic science.

There are many, many arguments against global warming.

Here's a detailed summary:

Anti-global heating claims
http://www.scholarsandrogues.com/2007/07/23/anti-global-heating-claims-a-reasonably-thorough-debunking/

As you can see none of them discredit the theory at all. In fact the lack of credible challenges reinforces the appearance of validity.

The huge amount of money pouring into the challenges to the theory is a mirror image of when the tobacco industry tried to tell us for decades that smoking was OK. In fact, in some cases the exact same people have been critical to the oil lobby's current disinformation campaign:

Dr. Patrick Moore, a co-founder of Green Peace left the movement over this very issue. His position is that we do not have sufficient evidence to make a conclusion in either direction. Caution is always advisable in the face of the unknown, but human caused global warming is definitely not a proven fact. Check him out on youtube.

I'm amazed at the absolute ignorance and arrogance of some of the people in Yahoo Answers (For example, the sun does not create CO2, and there is no direct way to compare the effects of the sun's output to the effects of a heat-trapping gas like CO2.)

Are you people telling me that you've studied the data on shifting ocean currents, wind patterns, upwelling patterns near continental shelves, ice melt (including glaciers that are all but disappearing) and the hundreds of factors that are involved in weather patterns, and you've reached the conclusion that if global warming is happening, IT WON'T MATTER? Wow. I feel so much better that a bunch of Wal*Mart troglodytes have discounted global warming. Merry Christmas to all, and I hope it's your families that starve and not mine.

There are also 19 points logically thought out which discredits the GW THEORY - found here:

Isn't it amusing that the Alarmists have adopted the Clintonesque tactic of accusing the opposition of what they are guilty of = close minded, irrational, name callers, etc.

The amount of co2 that is being blamed for causing drastic increases is only 80ppm (parts per million).

This is only a 0.008% increase.

The Suns output has increased 0.1% over the same time.

Umm - not much ice is melting, not really, just a little. It's not really getting much warmer - I mean, what's a degree or two for goodness sake. The troposphere isn't really warm at all - it's rather cold. The measuring instruments are not calibrated correctly - yes, that's it. Just more people are farting I'd say - it will dissipate soon enough.

1) The earth is still flat, and that prevents warming
2) I shut my eyes and wished real hard for it to go away, and of course it did!
3) My Mommy told me it's a hoax.
