Because it's hard! It took me 9 years to finally decide to lose the weight I needed to lose...which was 65 pounds. People don't realize that after the first few weeks, it gets a lot easier. I didn't realize it until I did it...But boy, do I feel great now!

Sometimes when people are fat/overweight it shields them from other issues.... It's GREAT to be the funny, fat friend.. Sometimes food helps cope with other emotional issues.. Food unlike cigarettes, alcohol is something that we need so quitting food is easier said than done... Also, for some overweight people being thin is a very scary thing... It means new clothing and possible new friendships which can be scary to some people. Fear of change....

I saw on the news that losing weight sometimes triggers depression. Or something like that. So losing weight may actually make you sad.

Fear. For myself, I've always liked to blend into the background, but I get afraid that if I'm too thin, everyone will be looking at me. I realize this is probably not the case, but it's what my brain keeps telling me. I tell it to shut up.
