Is there away for someone to be truly senseless? Like not being able to feel things. My friend says he can't feel things or he just doesn't feel right within himself. He's felt like this since his childhood. It's almost all he ever thinks about everyone else just think he's weird but is there a possible way to be born without senses? I think its a deep and long depression.

If could be that he is just not in-touch with his emotions which is more common in males than females. Maybe the manner in which he was raised didn't allow for much expression of emotion or such displays were frowned upon.

Otherwise, there are a number of mental illnesses that display such symptoms. Schizophrenics, for one, tend to act with disregard for others or what seems to be 'purposeless' behavior.

Or, you could be correct that it may be depression. People who are depressed do have a general lack of concern and tend to be void of emotion. That would be truly unfortunate seeing as though he has been this way since 'childhood' as you stated:( It certainly would help if he could at least go in for a checkout and see if further intervention would be of any help to him.

I will answer. The only way one can be truly senseless is to die. Our senses are our only known windows onto our environment. Extra-sensory perception is not a scientifically established phenomenon. I have heard of people feeling "emotionally numb," that is having no emotional reaction to their environment.

If he has this difficulty he truly needs others to kindly bring him back to a loving reality. If your friend is in this state and you and he are truly friends then you may be his way toward becoming emotionally involved with the world again. I say "again" because he has probably abandoned emotional attachment to others, even things, because of prior disappointments.

You may be right about his depression. Help him find out more about its causes and cures rather than abandoning him as odd. A good way to start is as you have been doing just by talking to him as a friend.

Good luck with your "friend", good mental health, peace and Love!
