One big thing all those opposed to keeping the original Biblical Sabbath Holy need to keep in mind is 1 John 2:4, whether or not you are interested in obeying God boils down to this one verse.
Our present day named "Saturday" is the true Biblical Sabbath. What God has made Holy no man has the right to change. Please let no one decieve you on this important topic!
Irregardless of what the others are saying above, Sunday is not the Christian Sabbath. There is absolutely no Biblical justification for Sunday being a day of worship. Sunday was taken from paganism. Sunday worship was introduced by the apostate church (Catholic) of Rome under the rulership of the Roman Emperor Constantine. Constantine was a worshiper of Mithra the Sun God and never repented of it. All who worship on Sunday are sharing in the worship of this false god. Deuteronomy 12:30-31.
All this can be easily proven by an internet search of articles with the above names and topics.
The idea that the resurrection was on a Sunday is also false and stems from a lack of knowledge of the Biblical Holy Days, which was supressed by the Catholic church. Read the Passion story in the Gospels, there were TWO Sabbaths that week. Why?
Now, Hebrews 4, read it carefully, it mentions the 7th day, not the first day, as the sancified day of rest. Please look at your calender and see which day is which. All other deceptions aside, the fact that the 7th day is mentioned is proof that the weekly Sabbath is what God intended us to understand and keep. The "Old" Testament is full of Gods displeasure over the Israelite's failures to obey His Torah, including the Sabbath. And, I want you to notice something interesting about verse 8 in different translations:
Heb 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. (AV)
Heb 4:8 (AKJV) For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Heb 4:8 (BBE) For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have said anything about another day.
Heb 4:8 (YLT) for if Joshua had given them rest, He would not concerning another day have spoken after these things;
Heb 4:8 (Darby) For if Jesus had brought them into rest, he would not have spoken afterwards about another day.
Heb 4:8 (ASV) For if Joshua had given them rest, he would not have spoken afterward of another day.
Why the difference between "Jesus" and Joshua"? It is because the real English transliteration of the name of the Savior is Joshua from His name "Yeshua". So, Hebrews is saying, basically, that Yeshua (Jesus) did not give the millenial Sabbath rest that the folks above me are alluding to, and as verse 9 states, the Sabbath is still to be kept by the people of God.
Almost all "christian" churches agree that the 10 Commandments are valid........except for the 4th. Few realize that the 4th Commandment is a reflection back to Creation when the very first thing God made holy was the SABBATH. Thus the Sabbath pre-existed the Siani Covenant! Read Genesis. Read Matthew 5:17-19, what is Christ talking about? Matthew 5:17-19 is in there for our benefit. This is the Messiah, the Savior of the world talking. He did not intend for a single Law of God to be rescinded by His sacrifice for those who broke that Law.
Why is the Law important? Romans 3:20, 7:7, and others
What is sin? 1John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
What happens to sinners? Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death....
Because we are under grace, and remember that the above verses define sin and the penalty for it, are we free to do as we wish? Romans 6:15
What is the sign of the True Church, the Elect, at the end of the age?
Revelations 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Lets keep it simple, forget for a moment that there are aproximately 613 Commandments in the Torah and that Yashua says that the least of them has not passed away {Again, read Matthew 5:17-19 and really think about what is being said}, there still remains the 10. Lets suppose (falliciously) that all that there are, are the 10. Are Christians required to keep them? Please study the following verses. Will you take the plain word of the Apostles of the Christ and the Christ Himself over the false teachings of your chruches?
Rev 22:14, Rev 12:17, 1 John 5:2-3, 1Jo 2:3-4, 1 John 3:4, 1 Corinthians 7:19, John 15:10, Mark 7:7, Matthew 5:19.
The 4th Commandment states:
Exodus 20:8 Keep in memory the Sabbath and let it be a holy day.9 On six days do all your work: 10 But the SEVENTH day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; on that day you are to do no work, you or your son or your daughter, your man-servant or your woman-servant, your cattle or the man from a strange country who is living among you: 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and everything in them, and he took his rest on the seventh day: for this reason the Lord has given his blessing to the seventh day and made it holy.
The Sabbath was the first thing God created to be Holy. What God has made Holy, no man has the right to change. It was Holy before Sinai, it was made for man when man was made {Mark 2:27, and others)
You really owe it to yourselves to study the following links before rejecting the True Sabbath any longer.

The Sinai Covenant restating that Law had no effect on something that existed from creation. God says He made that day Holy, not some other day, and if God has made something holy then you cannot void it by deceptions and smooth lies. There are those who teach "The Sabbath of Creation had no end"....horse pucky......Genesis 2:1 ¶ Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.....now, where does it say here that the 7th day never ended? It make absolutely no sense based on the definition of "days" given in the preceeding account of the creation. Did God somehow suddenly change the way He was counting?

Hello, Sunday is celebrated as the Sabbath because the early church fathers of the Roman Catholic Church changed the day of celebration of the Sabbath to Sunday - The Day of the Sun. Constantine - the real first Pope, and a Roman Emperor, was more interested in uniting the Roman empire politically by uniting all the religions of the time under one unified state religion, he chose Chrisitianity as the up and coming religion of the times. Just because you have the might to do something, does not mean you have the right to do something. Sun day is the ancient pagan day named for the pagan practice of Sun Worship, based in the astrological science of the planets. As Christianity is an offshoot of Judiaism, they both started with Saturday sabbaths. There is no biblical proof of the right to change the day officially. The Catholic church claims they had the right to change it, and that most other Christian denominations still use it is proof that they were justified and right for doing so. The Protestants just kind of inherited Sunday worship. The true Sabbath is Saturday, but the main issue is do you hold the Sabbath sacred and holy which ever day you celebrate? Jesus Christ himself, told us that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. In the times to come the true Sabbath will be reinstated. Until that time, Do what is right in your own heart, and allow others to do the same, so that it is not sin unto you. Reg

For those who believe in Yeshua as the Messiah, the sabbath
day is 7th day = saturday.
The reason the confusion comes in is because of the Jewish
day begins at sundown the night before, so when Paul was
preaching on the 1st day of the week it was saturday night
as we know it & they utilised the time to teach some more.
They did not start their meeting on Sunday morning & preach
thru to the sunday evening as that would have been 2nd day
of the week & they all had to be at work.Sunday was a work
day for people then.
Another misconception is that Yeshua rose on sunday, I do
believe He rose on the Sabbath as He is the Lord of the
Sabbath, so why would He choose another day.
See Matt 28;1 Luke 24:1 & Mark 16:1 all seem to indicate
early on the 1st day after shabbat, that would be the evening,
& the hebrew agrees with that according to David Stern.
So when the stone was rolled away Yeshua was already
risen.
Also Paul preached on the sabbath where ever he went so
why would he change the day to sunday. See Acts 13:14,
13:44, 14:1,15:21, 16:13,17:2, 18:4 these & many more say
on the sabbath.
Obedience to Gods word is more important than some church
doctrine.

If you actually go back and look at the issues about the Sabbath Day/Lord's Day, you will find that controversy was going on long before that. Paul addresses it in Colossians, Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
And also in 1 Corinthians where he tells the Christians that when they meet on the first day of the week, they should take up a collection for the poor at that time. (16:2)
The book of Hebrews also addresses the issue, stating that the sabbath was merely a shadow of Christ, and not something that non-Jews have to full.
The council which meet in 321 AD in Nicea was actually a council of the ORTHODOX church, not the Catholic church. As different were appearing between the two groups, the council was called by the church leaders to review the church's doctrines and practices. The council simply affirmed that practice that was already in place for 95% of churches, that Christian's should celebrate the resurrection of Christ (the seal of the New Covenant) and not the sabbath, which was a seal of the Old Covenant and only commanded to Jews.

Here are Jesus thoughts on the subject...
Matthew 5:17-19 (New International Version)
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
They seem pretty clear to me.

If you're an honest Christian (i.e., more than just in name only), then read and study this online guide:
http://www.amazingfacts.org/FreeStuff/BibleStudies/StudyGuides/tabid/105/ctl/ViewMedia/mid/453/IID/2-7/LNG/en/7/The-Lost-Day-of-History/SC/R/Default.aspx?3=Sabbath%20/%20Sunday
Those that think honoring Sunday as a day of rest is Biblically supportable are suffering from a delusion of satan. The Catholics admit there is no Biblical support for honoring Sunday. They also admit their authority to change Sabbath to Sunday is not from the Bible or from Christ. The Catholics say that proof of their self-given authority, to change Sabbath to Sunday, is that they "did it" and almost the whole world follows after them in that tradition. (Interestingly enough, the Catholics admit these same things for when they eliminated God's Feast days and substituted their own Beast days -- Easter, Christmas, etc.)
Mat. 15:7 You pretenders (hypocrites)! Admirably and truly did Isaiah prophesy of you when he said:
Mat. 15:8 These people draw near Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts hold off and are far away from Me.
Mat. 15:9 Uselessly do they worship Me, for they teach as doctrines the commands of men. [Isa. 29:13.]
2Tim. 4:3 For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold,
2Tim. 4:4 And will turn aside from hearing the truth and wander off into myths and man-made fictions.
God bless.

My thoughts are, why is it that sabbatarians are incapable of discussing and debating the issue of the sabbath honestly? You always try to redefine the issue by using this red-herring argument regarding Sunday.
Who are these historians? What is the source of their information? What pope or council actually "changed the day" as you claim? Quote it.
And while you are at it, explain how it is Christians should keep the conditions of a covenant they were never a party to, and how anyone can be required to keep the conditions of a covenant that has ended anyway.
But if you want to continue to define your faith through the physical, knock yourself out.
The just shall live by faith.
Have you not read, the law is not of faith?

First Day of the week vs Sabbath
I am not a Catholic. But I am free in Christ to worship Him any day I please. The New Testament Church without a doubt gathered on the first day of the week. But because our ministry we have people in church 4 days a week as it is.
Rom 14:6
6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.
(KJV)
John 20:19
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
(KJV)
Acts 20:7
7 And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
(KJV)
1 Cor 16:2
2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
(KJV)
