Mike P. assumes only terrorists have been killed by the US in Iraq.

Mike P. clearly doesn't read the news paper.

People have been killing people since the beginning of time and will continue to do so. We will always fine a reason or cause be it over food, land, beliefs, a pair of sneakers and for no reason but to feel what it is like. The reality is that we are the most uncivilized creatures on this planet and if it were not for the facade of laws, life as we know it would not exist. We justify our actions with labels that categorize the reasons, degree and fears. We define the fine lines and change the rules to suit our reasoning. We are destined for extinction thru self destruction if not by a natural disaster. So whether it be an abortion, street gang fights, terrorists, military, there will always be a "Hitler" type to come along and upscale the slaughter.
Most of us are not even aware of the actual number of murders that occur in this country each day. It's hundreds.
Although I think as a whole most people do not totally fit into the above catorgories, many have contemplated, by thought, death to another person.
SCARY.... Isn't it!

Well we could have left Iraq alone and done turn a blind eye to what was really going there. Now, using your same logic were the vets of ww2 and ww1 considered killers. After all, didn't we invade Italy, Germany, and Japan? I mean we could of sat back and done nothing. Really, using your logic Japan and Germany were not serious threats to our national security. What gave us the right to invade them? Oh yeah they attacked us and were making plans to take over the world. Kinda like the Islamic terrorist. But hey there are no terrorist in Iraq. The people killing American soldiers are just people with no ties to terrorism at all. Wake up and stop drinking the move-on.org koolaid. The simple fact is that Sadaam was torturing and killing people in his country that didn't agree with him. That alone is justification for us going in and taking him out. We made a grave error in ww2 by turning a blind eye to what Hitler was doing to people in the concentration camps. Look at the high price America had to pay for ignoring what Hitler was doing. Are you willing to pay now or later in the Iraq situation. A Sadaam runned Iraq equals even more instability in the Middle East. Sadaam was a bad man. As far as killing innocent people is concerned the simple fact is that in war you cannot garuntee that innocent peple won't die. War isn't some video game where the bad guys are easily labeled and you can zap them w/o colateral damage. So are the vets of WW2 killers too? Is it fair to compare military personal with people who have abortions? One is on a mission to destroy the enemy another one is on a mission to make life easier for themselves. Don't give me that special cases argument like what about incest or the life of the mother business either. These cases amount to less than 1% of abortions.

I see your point. But I think there is a fundamental difference between killing an enemy in a time of war and killing an innocent baby. For instance, in Iraq (I have two cousins and a co-worker who have served), they basically fired when fired upon. They weren't bloodthirsty people who wanted to kill. They were kids looking for some extra income and benefits by joining the military in a time of peace then get sent to war. The same was true in Vietnam. My dad was drafted (he didn't want to go), and I asked him how he knew who the enemy was and he told me that they would return fire to those who fired at them.

Now whatever the political motives behind a given war, you have to admit that the situation I described is different than a woman killing a baby through abortion. Let's be reasonable. We all know that after conception there is a baby growing inside the mother. Just because the baby is dependent on her for life support doesn't make it any less a person. What makes it so henious to me is that in order to "abort" the baby, you have to physically attack it, you have to make a choice to kill it. But people treat it like a cancer that you can cut out of your body. It's quite tragic that a civilized society would engage in this barbaric practice of ancient times.

I'm proud that I live in a country that endeavors to protect the weak from the strong. We protect women and minorites from the "white male" to try and equalize the playing field, but we don't extend that protection to the weakest and most vulnerable among us...babies.

But even if killing in Iraq was just a slaughter of innocent people. Even if our soldiers were going around killing anyone the felt like killing, it still wouldn't make the killing of innocent babies right.

As a soldier in Iraq I can say this: Soldiers here do kill people. Yes, that makes them killers. I honestly have no problem with this. When you see people on your "side" being killed in the worst of ways, every day you hear exposions, or "Mr. Big Voice" telling you to get the F*ck down, you tend to not care about the collateral damage...my only concern here is coming home with the rest of my unit intact. Its easy to call people killers and murderers who are acting in self defense (yes, we have to wait until we are shot at to engage a target) when youve never been in the situation.

Ah yes, but they are following orders. So I guess that would make Bush a killer then. But those who have abortions make the choice. If the abortion is critical to saving the mother, or if the baby is a product of a rape, then I would see differently. But if someone makes a bad choice in life, killing a living being is not a good solution.

So in answer to your question there is a difference, but yes both kill.

I don't see why anyone would favour abortion when adoption is an option, and there are couples who can't have kids of their own.

As for the military, they're killing strangers based on what a politician says. Surely if it were about defence, the government would wait until the country was actually attacked.

The babies you murder, have done nothing wrong. On the other hand, the terrorist that our soldiers are fighting, are part of a group that attacked and murdered over 3000 innocent people, in one day. Are you against stopping murderers?

You make an important point Shlane. I hope that one day the current media empire will collapse and the brainwashing slowly become undone... may the truth be shown for what it is.
And whoever does not concede that the media tycoons act under a selfish power hungry agenda are deluding themselves.

you need to watch a different news outlet...we as americans will kill 100,000 more babies than will ever be killed in Iraq...99% of those killed in Iraq will be terrorist...a very few civilians will be killed...but you are concern for them...but not for the unborn...Why? just because a woman has a right to chose...
