The flowing fur lined ritual robes get shortened sometimes, but the pointy hat remains on his head--when the christians stole his myth, did they tell their children it was a wilted dunce cap in order to chirstianize it?

Very good.
I agree that this 'Christmas" thing has gotten out of hand, including Santa Clause. Exactly where St Nick came from I do not know or care. But the problem remains, this idea has robbed Christian families in more way than one.

You need a little history lesson. Almost everything about Saint Nicholas is a legend, but your assertion that Christians stole the myth is...well...ludicrous.

the dunce cap is named after the man who popularised it - duns scotus erigena. duns scotus was a catholic apologetist (a rival of aquinas).

the peaked cap became a wizard's cap only after it was adopted by john dee (a great admirer of duns scotus).

so your reasoning is utterly backward: santa clause' peaked cap is borrowed from the catholics, not the other way about.

i think you should stick to being a believer: you have neither the learning nor the intellectual clarity to make a success of being an atheist.

(the atheist mafia might have you - their standards are abyssmal).

Both Nicholas and Dumbledore were believers deep down inside.

St. Nicholas was never a Pagan! Christians didn't steal him! Celebrate your Whatever Holiday Your belief chooses. Please Please, Please just drop it! As far as I am concerned Jesus is the reason for the Season! That is for me and if it isn't for you "Don't worry about it!"
