They have a noble purpose, to bring us closer to each other through getting closer to God. The big problem is how people keep taking that purpose and perverting it into money-making operations, monoliths of oppression, social clubs for the white, heterosexual exclusive few, etc.

In general - they're a good thing. But I hate the way that people will sometimes pervert and twist them.

religion is a disease of the mind and a crutch for weak people who cant make it through life without some magical being controlling their lives.
