Its all about slowing down the air/gas expansion. The pop bottle thing will work, but you have to fill it with sumthin like comforter insulation from a fabric store. If you wrap it around the inside of the bottle and leave a half inch or so hole in the middle so the pellet clears fine it will work. Do not pack the material in hard, just lit it take up its natural space. (depending on the density, you may need to pack it a little) You may have to play with it and try different materials/densities to tune it for best results. Its usually about an inch thick, so in a 2liter bottle you should be able to get a few layers (a 3 liter may be even better!) If this works for you please let me know! but yeah, why would you want to silence an air gun?

Silencers For Air Rifles

if you are out hunting the silencer is a valuable tool for your air rifle, if it makes the rifle quieter so you will get more shots in before the other vermin are bother by sound.
I'm making a silencer out of a piece of 20mm tubing and using spacers and washers for the baffles, its not to difficult to make a silencer. It will even work with just an open chamber to trap the gases coming out of the barrel, but the multi chambered do work better. ALAN - Sheffield S25

Go with PCP. You can either get one that is hand pumped, or you can get one that charges from a SCUBA-style air tank. I would personally choose hand-pumped, since SCUBA cylinders can be hard to find and have filled. You don't need a "silencer" for an airgun, either. Technically, you don't need one at all, for any gun. If you have £600, you can afford a fairly decent PCP gun, especially a hand pump one. Since you won't have to pay for anything to refill, the hand pumped ones will cost less over the life of the airgun. The Broc0ck (zero placed in because one of the words is censored on here) Super 6 Concept is £499 with a sighted-in scope, a gun case, and pellets. You could also search for a barely-used PCP rifle, and make an offer.

You in England? Indoor ranges sometimes requested silencer/suppressor on air guns. BSA had a removable cup/expansion chamber for the high power pistol- about 4 inches longer tube about 1.5 inch diameter, slot at back to fit around sight, front had sort of end cap with hole about 1/2 inch, also used to **** barrel. Similar tube for a RWS rifle had a vented small tube inside large tube- sort of like a miniature motorcycle muffler. Could use a plastic tube about diameter of end of barrel about 4 inch's long, clamped to end with a small cap with hole in center. Maybe a larger second tube slid over drilled small tube with ring spacers glued front and back to give extra expansion space. .

you can get silencer plans for rifle but i never heard of one for an air rifle, there quiet to begin with, you put ant type of silencer on that rifle and you will affect the velocity of the bb, it means you'll slow it way down with no affect,if you want something totally quiet try a crossbow or sling shot

Pillow like in James Bond? Seriously, why the heck would you want to silence a pellet gun?

Suspect question, why would anyone want to silence an air gun. I have several, both air and CO2 and have never found any of them too loud.

Stick a two liter plastic bottle to the end of the barrel, this will work on any gun, all you hear is a puff sound.
