Which would you perfer Digital or Muslin..? Digital you can take with you to photo shoots and muslin well that would be hard to tote, I have an interest in photography been doing it for 5 years under the table but now want to go bigger. I need info where to start or if I should be portable

There are many types you can make. Dyed muslin, painted canvas, a king sized velux blanket, a frosted shower curtain with a colored gel behind it...on and on. What type are you looking for?

Edit- not sure what you mean "digital" back drop..are you referring to green screen? If so, that is harder to light, process and set up than muslin.Muslin is highly portable and can be often put up with tape or clamps from Home Depot.

Buy three used light stands if you don’t already have them. Buy some material from a fabric shop. Get the following from Home Depot or Lowes ……

3 – Clamp Lights
3 – DAYLIGHT Bulbs (65w for main light, 55w for side and back lighting)
3 – Clamps
2 – Extension cords (1 with dimmer control)

Bring your tripod, camera and start posing your model.
