I think everyone will agree that if Jesus had existed, December 25th was not his birthday. And if you are going to give someone a present on their birthday, shouldn't it be the "birthday boy"? Say it's my birthday, and my wife gives the pool boy a new set of Pings. Doesn't make sense, unless she was fooling around. So, if you give someone else a Christmas present, instead of giving one to Jesus, are you fooling around? Only Wal-Mart could have devised such an evil plot. What do you think?

Pagans originally celebrated their holidays with decorated evergreen trees, candles, gift-giving, feasting, singing, etc. That's why the Bible FORBIDS the use of "Christmas trees" in Jeremiah 10:2-4. Christians hijacked the holidays so it would be easier to convert Pagans (before they started killing those who resisted).
Walmart is a business. If Jesus was really the reason for the Christians' season, instead of shopping, Wal-Mart (and most other stores) would probably be out of business by now.

I think you raise a very spiritual point. When Christmas becomes about commerce and spending money and consumption - then yes, it is rather like "fooling around" on Jesus. At least for those who claim to be followers of Christ; he did say you can't serve both God and money.
Peace to you.

Thought that Macy's invented Christmas but upstart Wal-Mart copied them and added the appealing idea of discount prices.
