Absolutely. You can be both straight and really emotionally close friends as well.
There used to be something called a "romantic friendship", but in the last few years it has been wrongly considered gay by many people. Here is the link to a wiki article about it:

I hope this helps : )

Sounds like my best friend. I am in total girl love with her and I tell her that I love her all the time. I have absolutely no sexual feelings for her, but I always say that if she were a guy I would marry her. I could honestly imagine getting old with her in some nursing home when were 80 still laughing at each other.

I'm also very close to a girl, and people say we are lesbians even though we both have boyfriends. It's just a sign of a strong relationship, you don't have to be gay to be that close to a girl.
As long as you too are okay with it, it shouldn't matter what other people say and think about you. Some people are that close to boys, and are still just friends, your sex shouldnt matter.

totally normal. Me and my bf were close like that until I moved to a different country - we would fall asleep in the same bed watching a movie, or just lie there talking, mostly about boys. We are lot lesbians, we just loved each other a whole lot.

I think since you asked if it was normal then you are thinking you might be going to far. I think you might like her and she might like you but both of you are too afraid to say anything or come out so you act like you are way against lesbians.

It is normal. When you have personalities that connect, it is a normal thing to feel close. It doesn't necessarily mean you're a lesbian, it just means that you really connect. It is my opinion only, (not to step on anyone's feelings) that being a lesbian/gay is a choice that people make when they feel this connection.

i have a gf like that, we are always on the phone when we're apart and often walk with our arms linked. but we're both straight. its not gay or sexual or anything, we're just very close. we're like sisters really. people even know us by being the one who sits with so and so or they call us by the others name by accident. its just like having a twin. there isnt a rule saying you cant show your affection for your friends, i walk around with my arm linked through my guy mates too. i wouldnt worry about it, you just sound as though your really close and thats really good as its important to have a really close friend who will be there for you throughout your life. :)

A lot of homophobes are actually homosexuals in disguise.
Joking in front of a guy who likes you or something, that could be considered normal, but in private, no that's just intimate.

It's completely normal and I don't think you're gay.
However, being "really against lesbians" is what is not normal here - it's ignorant at best and bigoted at worst.
