and she agreed with me to see a therapist. The problem is she doesnt have the financial ability to pay for it. Does anyone know of any programs that can help her.

Medicare will not help with this.

Here in St. Louis there are a lot of free counseling centers and I would imagine there are some all over the country. I would start with your local social services office. You can call and find out what is availabe for people on low income.

Have your friend ask the therapist's receptionist about a payment schedule and/or if she can qualify for any agencies
health program. Chances are the receptionist also handles the office billings and would know about many of the various agencies' programs for payment assistance!

Counselors (she does not need an expensive psychiatrist or psychologist) have sliding scales dependent on your ability to pay. Also, there are mental health clinics and instead of one on one counseling, group counseling is much cheaper. However, you have to wait your turn. Some churches offer free or low cost lay counseling or by the pastor. There is one online free counselor under the name of Christian Counselor.

some of the mental health centers have a sliding fee scale, she could fill out financial information paperwork then get reduced or free services
