I want something he picks out on his own, without prompting from me. He thinks he needs me to help him choose something, but I want to be surprised.

I got him some DVDs and books, none of which he is expecting. I really wanted to get him something nice, but he already has everything he needs, and he's not one to have a non-practical gift.
