Suppose a Christian commits adultery with another Christian. The one gets divorced then marries the "other."
How do you suppose God sees this?
Would divorcing the second be an option, or should they stay with it?

Matthew 19:9, Jesus said, "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, EXCEPT IT BE FOR FORNICATION, and shall marry another, committeth adutery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth committ adultery".

Forgiveness for any sin committed doesn't enter into this statement. WHOSOEVER means anyone who.

Look at Luke's account of this same subject; 16:15-18, Jesus says, "YE ARE THEY WHICH JUSTIFY YOURSELVES BEFORE MEN: .... for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God".

What is "highly esteemed among men" referring to here? Divorcing their wives for any cause, and then justifying themselves for their acts.

Luke 16:16-18, continued, "The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. And IT IS EASIER FOR HEAVEN AND EARTH TO PASS, THAN ONE TITTLE OF THE LAW TO FAIL. WHOSOEVER PUTTETH AWAY HIS WIFE, AND MARRIETH ANOTHER, COMMITTETH ADULTERY: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery".

Today, most Christians are among those who "justify yourselves before men".

The innocent party has the right to divorce and remarry in the Lord.

The guilty party has a problem -- he has committed a sin. God promises to pay back those that defile the marriage bed.

That does not necessarily mean that unforgivable sin has been committed -- that remains an individual judgment Christ makes. Still, there shall be punishment for this.

You're right Jake. As a Christian it is a shameful thing that so many get illegitimate divorces. Yes, the bible stands against homosexuality, and by inference, homosexual marriage. And Christians should too. But the bible also stands against divorce. And Christians should too. They stood before God and man and vowed, "For better or for worse, 'til death do us part". And they should live up to those words. The fact that they do not is inexcusable, hypocritical, and shameful. But it is also because so many Christians have such a shallow view of salvation and Christianity. Too many simply see it as a ticket to heaven when they die. But Christianity is to be a life transforming relationship with Jesus Christ. And when Jesus transforms your life, you can get along with anybody and personal happiness is not the greatest thing in your life. Honoring God is.

I will close with this.....

(2Corinthians 6:14-to-18) Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship does righteousness have with lawlessness? And what partnership does light have with darkness?

(2Co 6:15) And what agreement does Christ have with Belial? Or what part does a believer have with an unbeliever?

(2Co 6:16) And what agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are the temple of the living God, as God has said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."

(2Co 6:17) Therefore come out from among them and be separated, says the Lord, and do not touch the unclean thing. And I will receive you

(2Co 6:18) and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

God looks down on divorce. Even if adultery is not involved in the reason for divorce, if you remarry it is considered adultery in God's eyes. You're only allowed to have sex with one person, for your whole life.

Kind of defeats human nature.
