I have worked at Starbucks for over a year now, it's a great place. When I went for my interview, they asked what I knew about the company (do maybe do a little research on the Internet), and they also just happened to be doing a coffee/pastry sample at the time, so the manager had me sample the coffee and say what I think of it. Then they gave me scenarios and asked what I would do in certain situations, asked why they should hire me, etc, etc, etc.
A huge thing at Starbucks is customer service. Lots of emphasis on that. Be enthusiastic, friendly and willing to connect with customers and your co-workers. Be able to communicate respectfully! And it's important to be able to learn quickly, because there are many, many drink combinations!
And, availability is a big thing too. They like as much availability as possible! Just know you may not get the shifts you want when you start out on the bottom.
Hope that helps! :)

RE:
What are some good ways to get a job at Starbucks?
I will be applying at Starbucks within the next few days. I am a working professional, and am looking a for part-time job. I really want to work at Starbucks because I think it would be fun. I live in a small town, so I know the competetion will be tough. I am hoping to work the very early...

enthusiasm is the key. If you have a good resume and cover letter you should be able to get an interview. Then it's probably a matter of convincing them you really want the job, and enjoy customer service and early mornings.
Try to remember the interviewer's name and use it once or twice while talking to them, or when leaving make sure to say nice talking to you Bill - or what ever their name is. It will leave the impression that you care about people, and enjoy being social.

Just make sure you spell competition correctly on you application. Who knows, if you already have a job then you are obviously qualified because a starbucks worker is considered unskilled labor. The best way to get the job is to apply...that really all you can do.

Well alot of places don't do just "hi i can work these days and these shifts only" because they can hire someone else who can be more flexible...So they can have more shifts covered and more time to train them. But i guess just put in your application and see. AND don't "call everyday to speak with the manager about your application." as someone wrote below me. Calling once is okay to let them know you are interested. After that.. its not considered persistent its considered very annoying..
