Experience is like colors all over the place, while education is like a drawing. Employers need both.
However, a good way to decide which of the two is most appropriate, is to compare the learned person's ability solve a practical problem, with the experienced person's ability to extract a theory or lesson from what he has experienced before.

Depends on the profession, but if I had to choose between someone with experience in the field, and someone who just graduated and has a degree, I would take experience.
You can get a degree, but college doesn't necessarily prepare you for an actual work environment - sometimes (more often than not) only experience can teach you what you really need to know.

experience. Why would you want someone with no experience, or who doesn't even know what to do. A lot of times experience pays off for the degree.

Experience............ although large companies would prefer degrees, they must enjoy on the job training. People with experience already in the field, usually walk in and know what they are doing. For instance, if I owned a busy bar, I would hire the bartender with experience, not someone who just finished bartending school. They may know how to pour a screw driver, but their speed hasn't been built up, and neither has their experience with dealing with the public.

We hired someone with a Master's degree and zero experience.. sorry.. but rather have some with zero degree and tons of experience.. although that person with the degree and the experience totally outweighs them all!

Someone with a degree shows discilpine and drive, but someone with life experience has received priceless knowledge. Little of both is the best way to go

Years of experience; a degree may get you in the door, but it doesn't teach you the real world experiences that are more valuable than a piece of paper.

It depends, a twenty something looking for the job ... I'd ask for the degree, a forty something looking for the the job, I'd check the experience. And some jobs no degree, no job.
