There are plenty but not many that cover things in a linear fashion... so you're liable to miss out vital essentials from many sites.
A new site will be launched in the New Year with 750 pages of free info and lots of free video, it will especially cover digital issues and it explains the emerging international guidelines for photographers... I can't tell you any more yet, so maybe e-mail me towards the end of January and I can send you a link... right now it's a trade secret!
BTW I totally disagree with the 'born not made' philosophy - photography is a technical subject as well as a creative one and I've lectured hundreds (literally) of professionals: they are definitely made and not born - there may not seem to be much effort but the top players (and I know several) work like hell to get their skills up to scratch and to keep themselves right at the top!!

Join a forum like, Photographycorner.com .. there are plenty of tutorials there, and folks willing to critique your photographs, and offer help and instructions, with technique and compositions.
As for learning to operate your camera, there are sites will will tell you about the technical aspects. popphoto.com is a good site for that.

You can learn what makes a good photograph/photographer, but in the end, that old "born, not made" saying holds true.

Canon has some great info. It is meant for their cameras, but much of it can be applied to any camera
