Not sure why you say she can't receive dental treatment? Pregnant women actually are at greater risk of developing problems with their teeth and gums and should have regular dental check ups. That is why in the UK women receive free treatment on the NHS for up to a year after the birth of their baby.
Send her to the dentist!

Pregnancy related gum problems are not uncommon. It is usually quite fine for a pregnant woman to get dental care (unless there are some very serious pre-exiting medical issues/ ask her MD or midwife to be sure). Normally survey x-rays are not taken, The best thing for your wife to do is go to a dentist and have her situation evaluated and she very likely have her teeth cleaned. Evaluation and cleaning should improve things dramatically if her gums are sore and bleeding. BTW, chronic gum infection has been linked to low birth weight babies.

I am currently 8 months pregnant and I have the same problem. You can in fact see a dentist, speak with your OBGYN about what you can and can not do, and they may need you to contact them before doing any work on your mouth.
For example when I went to the dentist I had to have them call my doctor and inform them exactly what they were using before they used it, and I was able to recieve a gum treatment, and get a tooth pulled.

Sorry, but why on earth do you think she can't receive dental treatment cos she's pregnant.

The only thing she can't do is have any x-rays taken, but treatment is absolutely fine.

In fact, pregnant women are entitled to free NHS treatment while expectant because dental problems are much more common at this time.

Take her to the dentist. Soon.

My wife is in the same boat. They get free dental treatment when preggers. My wifes dentist gave her a strong perscription mouthwash. If that dosn't work its antibiotics, but im not keen on her taking those whilst pregnant, although the dentist says its ok.

all women can have dental treatment whilst pregnant. my sister is pregnant now and she gets all of her dental treatment for free while of course pregnant. tell her to have all of her treatment now while she can and also her perscriptions are free on the NHS. she just needs a card which she should of got in the post near the time around her first scan.

She is entitled to free dental treatment during pregnancy and until the baby is 12 months old. It is perfectly safe to have treatment but not xrays and i'm not sure about the anaesthetic but I think local should be fine.

taking care of your gums could entail only paying close attention to proper oral hygiene like proper brushing and careful flossing every after meal. this can help remove plaque that get stuck on teeth. having a regular dental check up and regular dental cleanings can make sure that teeth and gums stay healthy. water has a lot of health benefits and this can be advantageous to oral and dental health. make sure that you drink adequate amount of water to be able to keep bad bacteria in the mouth at bay. visit http://www.themouthdoctor.com for more gum care tips.

I am puzzled to know the reason your wife cannot receive dental treatment.Has a doctor told her this? In my experience it would be in your wifes best interest to get checked out, maybe she isnt taking in enough calcium.Carrying a baby drains the natural resources, she needs to keep to a good nutritional diet for herself & baby.If there is no medical reason then get her to have a check up.
