I have pain in my upper back that reaches my neck. Over a month ago my blood work came back with high ALT and AST levels. I have high triglcerides. I have not had a sonogram to confirm fatty liver. But has anyone had the same situation? I also have lower rib cage pain.. but lately my back is what is killing me...

not taking any medications (ex. tylenol).. my second visit he stated he'd prescribe me meds for the triglycerides.

Hi Steph
You may have 2 issues or they may be related. Your liver will affect the muscles in your upper back between your shoulder blades. If these tighten then you can get both upper back and neck pain.
However if you are having lower rib pain then the back pain may be coming from your Diaphragm. The Diaphragm will also cause both upper back pain and the rib pain.
Either way the Liver function tests may be part of this or a seperate issue. There are techniques you can use that correct both. Acupressure points can relax the muscles and joints and there are others that can stimulate your organs to improve their function. All safe and easy to do at home.

Have you been taking over the counter pain killers for your back, because they can cause ALT and AST increases. You do not state what age you are, so cannot say if the back pain is Osteoarthritis. However high triglycerides, Doc gave you drugs by any chance?
