Getting video output with my dvd player to my receiver?

I am having trouble connecting my dvd player to my receiver and getting the ouput video on my tv I get audio but no video. I was able to get both with my tube tv but I have a flat panel and for some reason the setup is different.

Most receivers have a rule:

Composite in - seen on the Composite out

SVideo in - seen on the SVideo out

Component in - seen on the Component out

I suspect you may be feeding 1 type of video signal to the receiver, but are using a different type of connection to the TV.

My advice: feed video straight to the TV from the DVD player, feed audio to the receiver. Fire them both up and enjoy.
