This is specifically for christians who have women preacher/ministers/etc.

The Bible says:

let the women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but let them be in subjection, as also saith the law.

And if they would learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home: for it is shameful for a woman to speak in the church.

1 Corinthians 15:34-35.

How do you feel about that?

But Paul doesn't add in the next verse "except women who have had kids"....this is meant to include all women.

Catholic Crusader...who am I interpreting this incorrectly??

It says it right there in plain English that women should not speak in the church and that if she has questions, she needs to ask her husband.

Right concept, wrong Bible quote.
Corinth was a church out of control. The women would speak up and voice opinion or ask questions during a teaching. They were being disruptive during services and teachings. Paul's words were meant to bring order to a chaotic church service.

No, Paul says that, not God! I have read that in the bible, but I have also read about women in the old testament who owned their own land and had their own businesses, who stood up to Kings, who were prophets, and what about Jesus' mother or Mary Magdelene? You really must read the whole book to understand it, not just bits of it here and there. You must understand that Paul lived a long time after Jesus and he lived in a world where women were unequal, the times when Jesus was around were different. If you read Song of Songs, or the very mast chapter of Proverbs, you'll see that women were much loved and respected.

yeah you are right it does say that. You also have to realize the time period. Women were basically beneath men and their husbands were the leader. No i don't think women should be pastor's of a church simply because it gives the qualifications of a pastor in the bible. But, it also says that women can teach. I can't think of the scripture off the top of my head. (sorry) The problem is that men should be the leaders of home but unfortunately in our society there aren't many. You have to realize also that you can't base something solely on one scripture. Study up on the subject. There is alot to be found.

Ah, welcome to the third century. There are places in Leviticus that indicate that it is okay to have slaves as long as we don't break their teeth or pluck out their eyes. The laws of Kosher where food is concerned were totally correct when they were written. There are 223 religions in the world, some of which model themselves after society as it was 5000 years ago and some which incorporate Jesus and space travel. Your spiritual life is yours. Do with it as you will. Worship Donald Trump if you wish. It seems an excercise in futility to waste too much time rubbing peoples' noses in the archaic beliefs which they espouse. They are not going to change your mind, nor you theirs. Looking through the bible to find contradictions won't raise your conciousness

Well for one, I am a spiritual Christian and I don't go to church. Not that there is anything wrong with going to a good church. However, even the pope is not perfect. Doesn't anybody on this plane of existence even come close to understanding what is meant by: NONE HOLY AMONGST THE EARTH ???? NO NOT ONE !!!

That is relative to the times when that part of the bible was written. It also says that women are not allowed to braide their hair because it is a sign of sexual temptation, although it isn't now. You have to note that the bible was recorded by people who had their own beliefs and standards of living, their own customs. You have to notice the difference or you will get very confused.

Its OK because 2 Timothy 2:11-16 states that they are saved through Childbirth, so at least the opinionated mothers will be OK

I'll tell you how I feel - bored to ruddy tears by questions put on here just to wind people up. We're all entitled to believe what we want to - who is to say whats right or wrong. I'm sure that every one of us does something that the bible goes against but it doesn't make us all sinners does it. What about people who listen to a sermon given by a homosexual priest ?? I'm sure God didnt foresee that either !! xxx
