The Bible was already completely overhauled by a non-Christian Roman emperor thousands of years ago. Probably due for another one, though. Maybe this time when we write the Gospels they can all not contradict each other.
An actual conversation from the first gospel writing:
"I put that there was 42 generations between King David and Christ. Pass me another beer?" -- Mark
"What's that, 56 generations? Got it. Do we have anymore cheetohs?" -- Luke

Whose definition of " Decent" would you use? Since the bible is GODS word,will you 'overhaul' him,too ? What is it you feel is wrong with it in the first place ? I think you just need to READ the bible you have,and then you will not worry your self about wanting a new one.

An overhaul of the Bible ?
Would it not be better to give the congregation access to the original teachings
They may then see They can work it out for themselves
It would make this long frock brigade who like to buy everything that's free surplus to requirements

Perhaps it's because the Bible has already been completely overhauled from it's original text that Christianity is the way it is today?

America has distorted and re-written Christianity and their versions of the bible. It had diluted and split the church into many denominations, sects and weird groups and in the process left Christianity behind!!!
What it needs to do is get back to the original bible and give up all the pseudo religious babble that has nothing to do with the real bible or Christian religion!!!

The bible is the foundation of Christianity, if you "overhaul" it then it wouldn't be Christianity.

that' depends on what you mean by "decent". Lacking in violence and sex? I guess. But many of the horrible things that are done in the name of religion have little to do with an appropriate reading of the biblical text.
