I need help....I have been taking Darvocets in large doses...even got prescriptions from different doctors to different pharmacies. I also have been taken whatever else i can get my hands on for pain. Without it I feel tired and achy all the time.
I have a chronic condition which they have no cure for and i am in a lot of pain often. But i am so worried that i am now just taking the darvocet to feel ok and not because i really hurt. Today I went to my doctor trying to get a refill, when they found out that i have been taken way more then I am suppose to. I felt so dirty, like some drug head.
I need help...how can i ween myself off? What do i do when i am in real pain? Please don't make fun of me....help

I think you'd better have a talk with your Doctor so he can start you on something to bring you down and, get you off these. There are drugs on the market today that will help you without this addiction.
I was on Vicodin for 14 years and, others. Until a neurosurgeon ask me what I was waiting for, He said you know you don't need those. Then he introduced me to the Medtronic spinal stimulator.
I have osteo-arthritis in the severe degenerative stages, there's no help for me but pain relief in it's most virgin form.

I have 32 wires and 32 screws in my spine, two cages in my lower back and eight cadaver bones in my spine along with eight of my own hip bones holding me together.

I sleep one to two hours a night, sometimes I'll go three days without sleep.
This new spinal stimulator let me sleep for the first time six hours the other night. I now get as much as six hours sleep a night, I feel guilty almost.

If you have a chronic condition that cannot be helped by man, maybe machine will do it. Ask your neurologist about the Medtronic spine stimulator, it can be used anywhere there are nerve damages in the body, it may save you.

I am addicted to pain medication because of a spinal injury and you have got yourself in a difficult spot by abusing the pain medication.

Darvocet is not a very strong pain medicine so you really shouldn't have any trouble kicking it like you with Oxycontin or hydrocodone.

In some states you can sign a 'contract for narcotics' with your doctor to assure him you will not go doctor shopping or over medicate yourself by taking too many.

If you have a legitimate reason to have the medication the doctor has a responsibility to help you with it but not if you abuse the drugs.

Maybe seek help from a pain clinic but once you start not following their dosing you'll be left to maybe a methadone clinic for pain medication therapy.

Sit down with your doctor and be honest with him and yourself and he will probably help you.

Spine stimulator's work great I guess but I know my insurance doesn't pay for them and they are REAL expensive

Good luck. Living in pain sucks but as long as you don't self-medicate it can be controlled

Darvocet is very weak. You can reduce down by 1 pill a day if you are taking 10+ pills per day, by 1/2 pill per day if 5-10 pills. That gets you down to safe and prescribed levels. Talk to your doc about getting a more effective medication and keep use under control. Pseudo addiction results from inadequate pain relief.

You have depression which will always make pain feel worse than what it really is. As for the aches and pains, chronic fatigue or perhaps Fibro? However you have been self-medicating! You need to take anti-depressant medication and not pain killers. If say after one month you still feel the pain while just on the anti-depressant, then see the Doc. To me it sounds as if you have Fibro, therefore Lyrica should really help the aches and pains. You need to be brave and talk to the Doc ask him/her if the aches and pains could be Fibro, brought on by depression, due to lack of normal sleep pattern. Good Luck

I used to work for a pain management and physical rehab facility.. And I am going to be as brutally honest as possible with you bc I believe it is the best I can do for you.. We had alot of people in our practice who had the same issue as you and believe me, they will talk and assume horrible things about you.. These doctors are not concerned with you getting addicted to these pain killers which will ruin your life.. YOU need to take the initiative to sit down and talk to your doctor and let him know what is going on with you.. YOU need to be the one to ask him to lower the dosages.. Are u also doing physical therapy? It really does help wonders..

Go get yourself a cane, and a medical degree, and change your name to Gregory House. XD But seriously, check yourself into some sort of rehab.
