This should cover your ten days trip.
-Empire State Buidling
-Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island
-Rockefeller Center and the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, as well as the Christmas Tree (and a tour of NBC studios)
-Times Square (no trip is complete without visit to the"Crossroads of the World")
-Lower Manhattan/Wall Street Area
-Central Park
-Brooklyn Birdge (you can walk across it too)
-Grand Central Terminal (largest railroad terminal in the country)
-Museum Mile (Fifth Avenue from East 86 to East 103 Streets)
-Museum of Natural History

Now, if you into shopping, or bargain hunting after Christmas, here are stores and areas that may help you on your shopping adventure:
-Macy's (West 34th Street and Broadway in the heart of Hearld Square)
-Bloomingdale's (Lexington Avenue at East 59 and East 60 Streets)
-The shops along Fifth Avenue (just don't max out you credit cards)
-FAO Schwarz
-Toys "R" Us in Times Square
-Lord and Taylor (5th Avenue at East 38th Street)
-Chinatown/Canal Street Area (if you want to go on the cheap for the stuff you can't get on Fifth Avenue)
-NBA Store (for the basketball fan - 5th Avenue at East 52nd Street)
-The Apple Computer Store (East 59th Street and Fifth Avenue)
-The Time Warner Center (West 59th Street - Columbus Circle)

-Grand Central Terminal (for the shopping)
Now, since you staying in Newark, and I assume its downtown Newark, its best to take the PATH Train into and out of the city. From Newark-Penn Station you can take the PATH Train directly to the World Trade Center.
If you're going to Midtown, Manhattan, change at Exchange Place station for the Journal Square-33rd Street train (Yellow Line) to 33rd Street station.
The fare is $3 round trip, per person, but you can buy an Eleven Trip QuickCard, which is a transit car used on the PATH, for $15 per person.
Once in the city, you can buy a 7-day MetroCard pass for $24 a person, that card will cover the fare on New York City buses and subways. However, the card is not accepted on the PATH, so it best you keep you QuickCard pass in a safe place for use on the PATH Train back to Newark.
I hope this information was very helpful, enjoy you trip.

I additionally think of it would remember on what keep you circulate to. undergo in concepts that possibly everywhere it’s going to be greater severe priced then the place you reside. in case you get some thing attempt and purchase some thing you could’t get the place you reside. It isn't smart to purchase some thing in nyc which you will get on the community mall on your section and particular for lots greater value-effective then the NYC keep. i might communicate on your mom and dad see how lots they are keen to grant you, until your using basically allowance money yet I doubt that should get you a techniques. attempt and be a clever customer don’t only get even if you choose, think of properly seem for sales and decrease value rates.

Check with your hotel clerk, or your host if you are staying in a private home.
They probably have a few suggestions.
(Broadway, Radio City Music Hall, Studio Tours, shopping, sight seeing...)
...omg! you're kidding, right?
