I heard that Buddisim is more christan-like. serious question here.

2007-12-13 02:55:01 · update #1

Is it possible that I can be a little of both? Half-chrstan an half-buddhist? I believe that there is a god, and jesus died for our sins on the cross. But Buddism just seems, better suited for me.

A Buddhist will regard hell as an illusion which you must face and pass through as you do this life. It is impermanent, like all conditioned things, ad like life here, is not separated from Nirvana. Enlightenment is available as readily there as anywhere else.

And yes, you can be both. Check out the work of Thomas Merton, he was a Trappist monk who could also be considered a Zen Buddhist, and he wrote many books on the subject.

If you have to ask that question, maybe you shouldn't be a Buddhist. Spirituality is God's truth. There is no right or wrong way to be of faith. And some faiths don't even believe in hell. I believe that there is no hell. Those who are evil will be reborn into a life to learn the lesson that they did not get from the previous life. And we keep doing this until we become like God, thus able to reach Nirvana, or heaven. It's all the same, if you are intelligent enough to comprehend.

You need visa.
You don't know Buddhism.
6. Hell realm: Life is defined as suffering virtually without any happiness whatsoever. The only positive thing about the Buddhist hell realm is the fact that it is not eternal. After consuming up much of the negative karmic potential, one will die and has the chance to be reborn in a different (more pleasant) realm. Similar to the heavens, many different hells are also described (like hot and cold hells etc.).

According to Christian doctrine, you will go to hell if you do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God, believe that he died for your sins, and accept his self-sacrificial death as an intercession with God for your sins. The Bible records Jesus as saying, "I am the way, the truth and the life; no one approaches God except by me." So, if the Christians are right, then Buddhists will go to hell.

However, if the Jews are right, then only they're going to get into heaven. The Christians will be in hell, along with the Buddhists.

I'm an atheist. If any of you believers are right, I'm in trouble. I'm betting that none of you is right. Furthermore, my bet isn't too much worse than any of yours, since whichever of you is right (if any of you is), then the rest of you are dee A emm inn E dee.

No. And the reason it's so Christian like is because Jesus/Constantine stole all his stuff from Buddha. I have no proof but Buddha was here first and most of his stuff sounds very biblical. Read a history book about The Holy Roman Empire sometime. Make a time line. Moses supposedly predates Buddha so maybe Buddha stole Moses' commandments.. haha.

According to Christianity, only Christians can go to Heaven, therefore only Christians can go to Hell. Hope that you don't mind. Keep in mind that God has never rejected any religious belief, it's the religions who are the culprit. No faith owns the rights to Heaven and Hell or their equivalents, they just pretend as if they do. The religions who claim they do should be rejected, because they are lying.

There is no written rule about heaven or hell. As long as you love your God with all your heart and soul that is all that matters, nothing about how and whom it is really matters. You will only go to hell if you deserve it and worshipping differently doesn't qualify.

Our God (me and yours) is a loving God that does not judge but accepts and loves all with every morsel of His being.

Good luck on your journey.

It is not for us to decide what the truth is. There is only ONE truth. Jesus Christ said that He was the Way and the Truth and the Life. Outside of Him there is no eternal life. Outside of His Church, there is no Salvation.
Will you go to Hell? If you die, refusing to accept these truths, you will eternally separate yourself from God, as you have done on Earth and will into Hell, prepared for the Devil and his angels.
It is interesting that Jesus denotes Heaven as created for us, but describes Hell as created for the Devil. We are ALL called to salvation and all can receive it if we are humble.

Let me ask you this. If you thought you had a deadly form of cancer, and some of the people in this forum told you: "no, you are fine the way you are...keep everything as it is" and someone else told you: "no, you are going to die unless you seek treatment". Which of those two people is more charitible?
