I'm trying to buy a gift certificate for my hubby at a ski resort near us. I don't ski, so I don't know if these conditions are okay or not. Even if they aren't, a lot can change before he'd be able to go skiing in a month or so. Please let me know what this report says so that I can maybe know if it would be a waste of money. Sometimes the snow is good there, sometimes not. Thanks~

If I were you I'd skip the gift certificate idea all together. Just keep checking the snow report and when it looks good, give him the credit card and kick him out of the house for the weekend. Then call your girlfriends and get to the mall.

When I see the report says "closed" a lot, I would think the conditions are not that great. If you buy a gift certificate and the snow doesn't get better you've essentially put that cash in the resort's pocket for an indefinite period.

Another option is to slap the same amount of cash on a Visa or Mastercard Gift Card, so if the snow doesn't get better he can use the gift card for something else.

I wish my wife would buy me a gift card for a resort..she usually just gives me dirty looks when she sees me with the skis in my hands and then asks, "How much is this gonna cost?"

You're a sweetie.

There must be serious drought goin on because a 15-20 in. base is not very much. It looks like half the mountain is closed. But in a month they may get some snow it usually snows in January/February, I say do it if they get at least another 2 feet and open some more of those runs.

You guys need some precipitation before you go buying a certificate. Willie D's idea is right on, gift card him and let him decide when and where to go.
