I'm guessing you're from Oxford, UK, so, the answer is that these are usually half the normal adult fare, with children under the age of 5 travelling free. The child fare only applies to those under (and not including) 16 years old.
If you're between 16 and 25 you can buy a Young Person's Railcard for £20 which gives you a third off the normal ticket price, but not before 10 a.m. Mondays to Fridays from September through to June.
