Ok I'm 5'3" 105 lbs 20 yrs old. I have lost almost 40 lbs since February. I workout in the morings (with Denise Austin- low impact). I consider this my wake up routine. In the afternoons I workout M,W,F cardio and T, Th strenght for about 30 min. I do cardio on Sat morning and rest on Sunday. I do get very upset if I have to skip a workout. Do you think this is excessive. I have not had my period since September of this year and am not pregnant. I eat around 1700 calories a day but during Feb-April was very sick and did not eat much (gall bladder removed) and the I restricted my calories a lot through the summer but have been eating what I think is enough and healthy for a while now. Do you think I am still not eating enough and exercising to much so this is why I am not having a period?? I also quit taking Birth control pills in September so that could cause a delay as well I guess! I'm just so CONFUSED!

There's nothing wrong with working out so often. How is your intensity? If you workout too intense everyday you can really wear your body out and not give it enough time to recover. Your calorie total is not bad. How's your macronutrient (f c p) distribution? I would recommend upping the healthy fats (fish oil, flaxseed oil, sunflower oil, etc.) they help regulate your body's hormones. I'd also recommend getting some bloodwork done to make sure everything else is ok.

No, I don't think you are exercising too much, but you may need to eat a little more. I used to workout doing step classes and jujitsu on my lunch breaks for 5 days a week and TaeKwonDo for 4 nights a week and tournaments on Saturdays. It was not too much exercise - in fact I was in the best shape of my life. However, I weighed a lot more than you (130s) and had a higher caloric intake though I was a vegetarian for most of that time period. I did this steady for about 5-6 yrs.

Unfortunately, I've since slowed down a bit from an injury, but you should keep it up. You are doing great and my only suggestion is working on your food intake. Talk to a nutritionist for the best results.

You are not exercising too much and I think you are probably eating enough. I am guessing that your lack of a period may have something to do with quitting the pill. You may want to talk to a doctor about that.

Women with extra low body fat can lose their period. You should ask your doctor to find out if this is the case.

keep doing what you are doing and ask your Dr. about the effects of coming off of the type of birth control that you were using.
