As others said.. it saves when you refill as most look at cost and not fuel economy ..as others have stated, the fuel economy takes a hit of roughly 1-2 MPG so in the end.. you spend about the same or a little more for the same travel.
With Corn ethanol, the jury is saying it's too much of a waste (as it takes almost the same amount of energy as 1 gal of gasoline to generate the 1 gallon of E-85)
But it won't hurt anything as the engine is built for it, but you will be forced to 3,000 mile oil changes (from Ford recommended 5,000 mile changes)

E-85 is an alcohol based fuel, alcohol fuels have a different specific gravity than gasoline, burn cooler, but need more of it to do the same job. If fact, while E-85 has a real high octane rating, for best results in a carbureted engine, you need to get a carb set up for alcohol $$$. However, if your F150 has EFI, the system will make the necessary changes. As for mileage, I have no clue, I live out west and it's not available.

It won't hurt your engine. In fact, running ethanol will actually keep your tank and fuel system cleaner than with running gasoline. You'll just have to figure getting only about 85% of your usual fuel mileage when compared to regular gas. So like wise it should only cost 85% as much. If not, it will be cheaper running on regular gas.

If the engine is designed for it you can use it without worry. It won't really get better milage and likely won't save you money. Ethanol is an alternative fuel that's all.

It's not a problem at all. Here in MN it's quite a bit
cheaper and more so down in IA. Both states have
strong eth. production and subsidies. Performance
will be the same, mileage will take a slight hit. It will
NOT hurt your equipment in any way, and winter
condensation in your fuel tank will never be an issue.

E-85 is about 20%-25% cheaper than gas without Ethanol.
However, E-85 REDUCES your vehicle's gas mileage by about 35%.
So, in the end, you actually end up buying more gas and spending more money to travel the same distance than you would with non-ethanol gas.
