For the same reason you don't believe in Russell's teapot. You don't believe. There is no choice in belief. You cannot choose to believe if you don't believe.

We all have different reasons.

Personally, I finally realized that my impressions of the benefit of a belief in God were wrong. I believed that faith was a great thing and caused good things to happen, but then started being honest and looking at my fellow church members, my community, my country and the world, then back at myself, and realized that belief in God really does more harm than good to humanity.

9/11 just punctuated my thoughts, and I realized that faith in great degree is actuall very dangerous.

So I started looking into my belief system, and realized it was based on a weak foundation. It turned to science, and discovered that the 'theories' I had been fighting against and maligning as a Christian, were actually MUCH more sound than religious people had led me to believe.

Once I figured out where meaning and value in life really comes from and what dictates morals, I was all set.

I no longer need to believe in God, and know that it is a happier, more moral way to live.

Which version of god do you assume we refuse to believe in ? In the monotheistic department there are even more than I thought. You want to pick one for me?

Please have a nice day and try no to use the word hate too much. It will make you feel better after a while.

Religion in all faiths were a way for the government, with religious backing, to keep the people in line and fear for their lives. You have to remember that in the past not everyone had access to information. Alot of what they knew of the world was through religion.

Example, the lightning in the sky is a sign of Zeus throwing lighting bolts. Today we know that it has to due with buildup of positive and negative charges. The religious leaders would say that if you are bad and don't follow the rules those bolt of lighting would hit you. The bumb peasant would not know any better and follow the rules.

The modern age with information overload is one reason why religion is taking a back seat, and some, especially in the middle east, would loose their power over the people if they did not follow the laws of the religion.

In the past you had the Pope declaring war on islam because the church was losing influence in europe. Now you have radicals in islam rising up because they are loosing influence over the people.

Not believing leaves you free to judge for yourself and not have someone tell what is true

Pftt...

Which Christian God should I choose?

The Ken Hamm version that allows children to play with wild dinosaurs?

The one that supports a flat world without gravity around which the sun orbits?

Or how about the Kent Hovind version where bought dimplomas and lies are just as good as the real thing.

Should we believe in the Fred Phelps version which hates everything except their little corner of the world (and possibly them as well?)

You know for all being Christians, you all seem to have a different story. I'll choose to stick with mine which doesn't change in attitude or disposition. Thanks, but no thanks.

Because there is no God and Genesis is fiction. Belief only survives due to brainwashing in childhood and when vulnerable. In a lot of cultures, especially in the USA, questioning belief is punished by the community and cannot be taken lightly.

why shoudnt there be, i believe in god, i love him and praise him. but if all believed then life would be to simple. answer this y athiests, y christians, y jews, y muslims , y any religion. thats life god gave us all mind of our own, so we make our own decisions in life. i dont like t disrespect any religion, i probly hav on here once or twice. but which religion is rite, we hav t accept other peoples beliefs. dont judge som1 coz they dont believe, or have a different religion t another. god will judge each individual, at some point. but if you decide t turn against som1 coz of there beliefs, then u ureswelf will upset god. as he never us power t judge som1.
