Because you holy rollers can't get your act together, and simply prove the existence of a god.
Christ knows, you've had long enough.
We evolutionists can prove evolution, by using the fossil records.
You creationists cannot PROVE squat.
Quoting the writings of some 2000 year old tome, doesn't actually cut the mustard. The bible wasn't written at the time that these events were supposed to have taken place, nor was it written by people who were actually there. I might as well take for Gospel, the book Small Gods, written by Terry Pratchett, which is far more entertaining, and answers more questions than the Bible.
So, arise, take up your bed and walk, your time is up.
I do not believe that there has ever been, or that there will ever be, proof of a god. All you have to do, is get him to tell me everything, to the smallest detail, that will happen to me during the next 24 hours. Is that too much of a problem for you?

I do believe its a free world. People who dont believe have just as much right to their opinion as people who do. I personally am an atheist and when I see friends and family, good people including children dying and the atrocities in this World, then I find it very hard to wonder how anyone can believe there is a God. Surely if there was then he would / could prevent some of the terrible things that happen. What is the point of praying for something that wont / cant happen?

Religion in all faiths were a way for the government, with religious backing, to keep the people in line and fear for their lives. You have to remember that in the past not everyone had access to information. Alot of what they knew of the world was through religion.

Example, the lightning in the sky is a sign of Zeus throwing lighting bolts. Today we know that it has to due with buildup of positive and negative charges. The religious leaders would say that if you are bad and don't follow the rules those bolt of lighting would hit you. The bumb peasant would not know any better and follow the rules.

The modern age with information overload is one reason why religion is taking a back seat, and some, especially in the middle east, would loose their power over the people if they did not follow the laws of the religion.

In the past you had the Pope declaring war on islam because the church was losing influence in europe. Now you have radicals in islam rising up because they are loosing influence over the poeple.

Since religion is a tool to control the masses, not believing leaves you free to evalute all posibilities

The better question would be "Why are there people who believe in a personal god, when rock solid evidence shows their creation myths to be absurd, the universe acts precisely as it would with no god, there is zero evidence for god, there are thousands of gods that you think are ridiculous, nobody rises from the dead, walks on water, floats into the air, snakes don't talk, and on and on.Given these FACTS,why in the HELL would someone believe such baloney?

There is no proof that God exists.

Perhaps if more Christians understood the circumstances surrounding the compilation of the Bible they would understand that they are being controlled. It is a long standing tradition that they have fallen for.

Edit:
By the way, Aquinas "proved" nothing. He doesn't prove the existence of God any more than any ancient philosopher has ever proved the existence of any other god.

"non-believers (heathens)"??????????

Could you be any more offensive????????

Give me 10 good reasons to believe in god and I'll give 100 better reasons why I don't!!!!

I am gob smacked about how insulting and offensive you have been with that statement. If I had been that offensive about a christian or a catholic or a jew or a muslim or a buddist or anyother religion, I would have been kicked off this site faster than I can blink!!!!

Heathens do believe in God..just not the one of Abraham. Atheists don't believe and it is their RIGHT to do so.

Simple because deities do not exist. You will never succeed in convincing me or any one else that knows this to be truth that one doesn't .

Besides doesn't that leave more room for you to be with your god, I mean you just might miss your boat ticket to heave ( you ever notice that heaven without the n spells heave) worrying about people that don't want to board. Now run along and go play in traffic if your faith meter is full you will not be hit.

Asker, you better learn some elementary spelling.

Catholic crusader, we are talking about scientific proof of God, not philosophical mambo jumbo. Philosophy was "proving" that the Earth was flat and the center of the Universe, before science came along.

Unfortunately, like all fanatics you are far too verbose and I only read your first argument, about motion proving the existence of God. Actually it does the opposite. Who caused God to move?
