Based on my understanding, the "Straight Edge" community refers specifically to a segment of the punk subculture (especially hardcore punk) that doesn't use drugs or alcohol, and also doesn't engage in sexual activity. I;m not sure whether or not religion is an issue.

I've heard about Straight Edge too (but I'm WAAAYYY too old). It's not that religion isn't "allowed" - its just that there's "no dietary or religious beliefs tied to straight edge contrary to media coverage" (from thier website http://straightedge.com).

I've never heard about the religion part, but yea your straight edge, which is cool, unless you get preachy about it, then you become annoying.

straight edge is a label used by people refering to "goody two-shoes"...just a different phrase.
You can believe in God...and most likely, that's why people called you that.

Yes, you are straight edge. Although one day you will have some fun, don't worry.

Straight edge essentially means that one must go to an airport bathroom to solicit gay sex instead of being upfront about things. Or alternatively, go to a male prostitute to get meth and sex instead of cultivating a healthy gay relationship. Straight edge punks are violent rats.
