Christmas (as well as other holidays) is pagan worship therefore if your not going to follow god's word the bible when it comes to holidays then why worry about being greedy?

Main Entry: greed
Function: noun
Pronunciation: 'gred
Etymology: back-formation from greedy
: excessive or reprehensible acquisitiveness : AVARICE

Wanting things is not greed. It's become a tradition to exchange gifts with friends and loved ones at Christmas, emulating the gifts of the Magi to Jesus. Some people do go overboard with the giving however.

It is a contradiction. But consider this; There are two kinds of people in the world. saved sinners and unsaved sinners.
We all sin and come short in the glory of God (my para phrase)
No, I am not condoning selfishness and greed, what I am saying is; at least they (those under the blood of Christ) have opportunity to correct and change such actions. The Christian walk here on earth is a growing experience among other things. Being Christian dose not equal being perfect, there is but one that is perfect, and that is Christ.

Exchanging and receiving a few presents at Christmas hardly constitutes greed. You need to look up and read the definition of greed.

Crazy question. Everyone WANTS something. There's a difference in being greedy and having a want. I personally don't care whether the "want" is at Christmas time or any day of the week...I agree also, you do need to look up the definition of that word. :)

It's symbolic of the gifts Christ received from the Wise Men. The gift giving has just become way out of hand in these modern times.

It's not greedy to want to get a gift. It's greedy to want every gift under the tree for yourself. See the difference?

No true Christian wants "stuff" at Christmas...we offer and accept gifts as tokens of love and friendship with those people in our lives...many of us would rather give to someone needy than to needlessly spend money on someone who already has more than they need...

I'm with the JW's on the whole holiday thing...if there was some way I could abolish it...I would...they should rename it from Christmas to "Huge Sale I Want That" day....

I want Christmas presents because it makes me feel good to get stuff from friends. (It's better to give than to receive...I know)

But I'm not going to moan and complain if I don't get anything for Christmas.

That is the different between someone wanting something, and someone being greedy.

Oh, forget it. I'm a Christian, and I don't want anything. Greed is that guy on TV who wouldn't deal for $400,000 + last night.

One of the few things I wanted when I was a "Christain" was for YHVH (Yahweh) to heal my depression.

Then I became atheist and felt much better.

So, from experience, maybe they aren't necessarily greedy.
