Ok, last week I found out my boyfriend had been cheating on me. I confronted him about it at his place but he wouldn't admit it. We argued for a while until he finally admit he'd been cheating on me for 3 months.

I'm really not usually a violent person at all but that p***ed me off so much, I just punched him as hard as I could in the jaw. It knocked him out cold. I'm only 17. I'm athletic but not muscular (I'm a cheerleader) and he's 21 and pretty buff. I totally didn't expect it! I was just angry. He was knocked out for about 40 minutes. It was really funny, but when he came to he freaked out. He went to the cops and I've been charged with assault. Was I in the wrong?

Unfortunately, it was legally wrong. Morally, hell no, you were absolutely right! Get a public defender and let him plea it out. Given the circumstances I would think it could get plead down to basically nothing. If he want to pursue the charges have him arrested for statutory rape!

What a stupid mama's boy.He went to the cops and now you're in serious problems?.He is a loser. If you are going in front of the judge, tell him or her, that was self-defense.He was ready to rape you and you're a minor!.Look for legal assistance, because a felony charge could ruin your future.A bad record is a nightmare. He can drop the whole matter.Tell him,I'm a minor,

Oh, yeah...

You physically assaulted him to the point where he was unconscious. That can cause a concussion. He's well within his rights, and you'll be lucky if you only get fined by the court and sentenced as a juvenile. Imagine explaining an assault and battery conviction to potential employers.

Better look hard at yourself, and wonder if you have an anger management problem.

You did the right thing. He is a putz for going to the cops. Maybe the judge will give you probation and you won't have to do the time. Lots of luck.

Yes, you were totally wrong. Violence is never the answer to solving problems. I can understand that you were very angry, but you should have walked away.
He was right to charge you, because you did assault him, but he probably only did it because he was embarrassed.

According to the law...yes you were in the wrong!! It is assault!! On the other hand he may be the stupid one for going to the cops because depending on how far your relationship went and the laws in your state...you're underage and he should not have been in a relationship with you to start with!!
