Because it has to be for them to maintain belief.
It stems from early indoctrination that tells them that they have value and meaning in life, because a superior deity created them with purpose.
"I am special and have value because God created me with a purpose on earth and loves me"
If their believe is God is seriously challenged, their meaning and value and purpose in life is seriously challenged.
It is easier to have shifting standards of evidence to support the existence of God so that they can maintain value in life.

I disagree. Many Christians may disagree with you on the conclusions based on the evidence. That doesn't mean they "completely write off all of the evidence."
And I also disagree that most Christians believe the Bible simply because of the title and the main characters. That conclusion is just ignorant.
If you want real answers to real questions, you need to stop stereotyping and demonizing and start actually understanding how other people think and believe.

I accept all evidence. I interpret the evidence different than you interpret it. Yours and mine are both theory. To claim we alone skew a standard of evidence is staring right back at you. There is a ton of evidence that defy the General and Chemical Theories of Evolution but I never can get anyone to interpret the evidence. I'll give you one, "How did the wood peckers tongue evolve". I'm still waiting for an unskewed interpretation.

Skewed? Really? It is the scientific community that defines what constitutes a valid theory, not christians. Yet, it is the scientific community that, all too often, is happy to run roughshod over it's own definitions and procedures.
When the scientific community violates it's own rules, why should the rest of the world place any trust in their conclusions.

what caused the big bang?(the atheist says "we don't know", or it was one of many, but he can never go back to before that , the Christian knows what caused it.)
how do you explain the empty tomb? (there's historical evidence outside the Bible for this)
there are many things you were probably taught in school as fact(i know i was) that are just false, like haekel's embryos, miller's "primordial soup", which created organic compounds(a couple of amino acids--the simplist bacteria needs around 90) , and some water vapor, has been discredited because he used the wrong "atmosphere", the experiment was recreated using the correct atmosphere, and guess what was created?!? formaldehyde and cyanide.
read something other than dawkins.

As the Firesign Theatre would say to you, "Everything You Know is Wrong!" You could have spend a lifetime analyzing their epistemology for fallacies and never get a complete list.

I have nothing against science just when people interpret the facts according to there bias's and ignore one fact that goes against the bias but when a so called "fact" validates there bias they accept it as if it was from God him self...
Both Christian Scientist, and Non-Christian Scientist have the same facts buts its just the way you interpret the facts that causes the dividing line.

A lot of folks are scared to question their faith. It is considered heresy. Plus, their faith may not stand up to scrutiny. They want to believe so they just turn off any factual evidence to the contrary. In other areas of their life, they are open and receptive to questions and theories.

Check your dictionary, there are at least 5 acceptable definitions for the word "theory". You need to define your word and then we will tell you whether we accet it or not. We do the same with the Bible.
