"We all have the same goal in common, which is peace; the means by which we attempt to gain this goal however is what makes us different."
Do you agree with this statement, that we all want peace, but our different views are what is stopping it from happening?

Dusty, all except Hugo(maybe even him) preach world peace. Hamas, although they're terrorists, still says they're doing it for world peace.

Not everyone wants world peace.
Look at Hamas, Hebollah, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Hugo Chavez as examples. They only want world peace if they are made ruler, and get to enforce the "peace" they bring with an iron hammer.
EDIT: Jack, that just proves my point. They only want it on their terms, and will eliminate those who get in their way. That isn't wanting world peace.

Humanity has lost entire 20th century in needless wars. French and British on one hand and Germany and Japan on the other, who remained engaged in the bloodiest wars ever fought , are part of various alliances now, such as European Union and Nato. If you see minutely, you will find that almost all wars were secretly planned by Jews, to be able to lend their money and gain a foothold in Muslim heartland.
Unfotunately that dispte is still continuing. Look at Rbert Fisks book, "The Great war for Civiliazation", to see how hell was let loose on poor and hapless palestinians to impose Jewish rule in their territories. Unless the civilized world, does
not stop Israel from committing atrocities on Palestinians, the blood bath will continue and peace will not be achieved despite best wisheds of every sane person.
The choice is obvious, but difficult. Let us hope, sanity prevails.

Not exactly. As has been said many times, even if everybody was an angel, none of us would be omniscient, so there will always be differences in thought -- that have to be settled by authority. -- And at least if you greatly disagree with what I'm saying, you sorta illustrate what I'm talking about because, like you, I would love to see peace .
Only Jesus will bring peace, because only He has authority.

That statement is absolutely true...until someone finds a universally accepted way of attaining that goal...it will never happen...religion has only been the means by which men have manipulated others into warring against each other...remove the human need for greed, power, and fame...and peace may be possible...

I completely agree. I believe there would be peace in the world, if there was no religion at all. Some one else might say that religion is that answer to our problems. Just a difference of opinion.

No, I don't agree that we all want peace. Arms merchants, for one example, do not want peace. They want to sell arms, and they want those arms to be used, so that they can then sell more arms. I believe that the main reason that the US went to war in Iraq, was to further enrich munitions manufacturers and others who profit from war.
To 'problem': Human nature consists of two things - the fear of falling, and the fear of sudden loud noises. Any behavior humans exhibit beyond that is learned. It is not in our nature to be warlike, it is a learned behavior. The problem is to get everyone to stop teaching it.

I think what stops it is human nature. Humans are not very loving or accepting creatures. We all want peace OUR WAY! Look at this forum. The underlying message is if you agree with me, I like you. If you don't agree with me..I hate you and you should be forced to change your mind..Not much tolerance in the world!

Well, Jesus taught peace and to love your enemies. Muhammad, taught kill eveyone who will not become Muslim.
Buddha taught live in harmony with nature and achive enlightenment, harm nothing that lives etc.
As long as there has been humans there has been conflict. Unfortunately, that is a fact of our existence. Conform to the way I think or else die heathen!!!
Education not indoctrination is the answer.

I do believe this statement is true. Even the most radical opinions in the world all say they are striving for peace. The means for which sometimes are not so peaceful.

Obviously the statement is wrong. There are many people on this earth who value certain things higher than peace. Starting with the funny guy you call your president.
