Many people today try to say the bible is not literal and anyone who says that the bible is referring to Jesus as the son of got NOT BEING LITERAL might want to read the book before commenting.
I have read the book thoroughly and came to the conclusion it is all a bunch of bull.
There is no evidence that the bible is true or that Jesus is the son of god. There are truths in the bible and even historical accuracies. But that also applied to the Mormon bible, Jehovah witness bible, and any other religion. All religions have a moral teaching that contains many truths and positive examples of how we should live.
Faith is for those who believe in something that is not supported by ANYTHING other than the testimony of other men who say it is true. This being true means that faith is believing in the word of man.
If you are looking for logic, answers and even a shimmering hope that god is real; you wont find it. The bible says that God is playing hide and seek and if you don’t find him you will burn in hell. It also says he loves us like children. But me being an evil person; I would not play that game with my son.
I can prove Santa is real just as much as anyone can prove god is real. Because you believe does not make it true. Even if you believe with all your heart. Believing with all your hart will help Peter Pan more than it will make god real.
Merry Christmas

Technically speaking did god have sex with anyone, procreate, have a child. No. However, he created Adam from the dust and breathed life within him. And from him, God took a rib and made a female. Both forms of life - neither though procreation. So - in the case of Mary, he said to her - you will have a soon, and he will be my child - and she did. This could denote that Gods will is spontaneous - meaning that "his" pure will - creates what will be done.
But - this is a question no one can answer. The bottom line is, when he is getting Baptized by John the Baptist. Gods voice boomed over the crowd watching and he told them he was the son of God. And in reality, that is the only proof we have - however it is all worshipers of the lord need. Sadly, I claim no religion, because of mishandling like this. The long and short of it comes from what makes you feel secure at the end of the day. If you choose to believe - and you fully rely on that - then you don't need the proof. Thats just what religion means.
One more thing. You can generally assume how serious to take peoples answers by their misspelling and grammatical errors. "There is now god."... that made me sad to see that answer. Just a thought.

God can do anything!! If God wanted to, he could beam down as The Fonz and shoot another season of Happy Days.
So, if God wanted a son - i don't think it would be too hard for God to have one.
And besides, just to clear a few things up, the Bible can be the most obscure book in the world if you don't think outside the box. If you want to truly understand the Bible and the Word of God, you really have to let go - mentally, i mean, of all the things society says about science and creation. I mean, in essence, the Bible cannot be taken literally (like, down to every word) or else you'll become a progress-halting fundamentalist. The Bible is a mystery but the point is to understand the big picture.
Well, i went off on a nice, big tangent. =)

You certainly follow a good train of thought! More precisely, I feel Man, humans have created gods in their own image. To explain the unexplainable. This has been built upon, it has created an industry of religions. God is not human, nor a being. No being could create the universe. Solar systems, galaxies, etc. But to answer the question, where did this all start, Man has created a god.

virgin birth for beginners. Read the book of john in the bible. God is a spirit and jesus has a spirit as well. We are all to become Sons of God if we receive him. There are places where Jesus actually shows that he is God. It was like God broke a piece of him self off and put some of him in man to become us. God is an extra-dimensional being far beyond os and his other creations. Its easy for God to do this but hard for human kind to understand how its possible. With God many things thought impossible are possible.

because he did the works! (John 10:36-38).
God is a spirit, and He has a spirit(-ual) seed.
That seed was made visible (i.e., Son) so that we could see the divine attributes of the invisible God (i.e., Father).
" Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God." Luke 8:11
the seed of God = the word of God.
When God spoke his word in the beginning of creation, God was sowing his seed into the earth.
"And God said, let there be light, and there was light."
Light was the physical manifestation of God's spiritual seed.
Which is why Jesus was called "the light of the world."
We can become a son of God by having no spiritual darkness, by having only spiritual light, which is truth!
"For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." Romans
Let us stand for life and peace by thinking spiritually!

Well, aside from what the Gospels in the Bible say, you know we are all and each of us sons and daughters of G-d.
Now if you want to get all literal and such, you might want to start reading signs you see by the road and thinking that they tell you exactly what people really do, and if the road is really slippery as they say, or whether they give you an indication that the black ice is where you won't see it or not.
So you all, with all due respect, can just open up that Good Book and take a little look. It won't hurt you none, my dear fellow Yahooligan.

"Son" is a human term that means offspring as the results of a sexual union between a male and a female.
"Son" in reference to Jesus refers to relationship, not offspring.
The Bible says that Jesus came from the very heart of God to demonstrate who God is and what He is like, His very character. ("When you've seen ME, you've seen the FATHER", or "If you want to know how God reacts in any given situation, watch me". Why? Because "I only do those things I see my Father doing."
Jesus said and did things that can come from only one of two sources (if not God). Either Jesus was an extreme blasphemer, "or he was a lunatic on the same scale as someone who thinks he's a poached egg" (C.S. Lewis, "Mere Christianity).
For instance, Jesus went around telling people their sins were forgiven.
Now just think about this for a moment.
I can forgive you if you hurt or offend ME, but if you hurt Fred (or Jimmy, or Sarah), it is NOT my place to forgive you. Only Fred or Jimmy or Sarah can forgive you for what you do to them.
But Jesus came along and gave a blanket "I forgive you"! Unless he IS God, he's a lunatic, if he thinks he can just go and forgive someone for things he did to other people!
Jesus asked his followers, "Who do you think I am", to which one of them replied, "You are the anointed son of God."
Now, as crazy as this may sound, Jesus actually told him, "You are right. My Father in heaven has revealed this to you."
Is he crazy or something? He just accepted worship that only belongs to God! - - - unless he is, in fact, God!
When Jesus was on trial, the high priest asked Jesus, "Tell us the truth. Are you the son of the Most High God?"
Once again, like a nutcase, Jesus actually said "Yes, it is just as you said."!!!!!
What's wrong with this guy? Didn't he realize that this is blasphemy?
In fact, the high priest tore his robe and cried out "BLASPHEMY! What further witnesses do we need?"
Jesus didn't jump to his own defense and said "Wait! You misunderstood!" No, Jesus accepted the judgement - that he claimed equality with God.
Either he was crazy to do this, or he truly was (and IS) the son of God!
He commanded nature, and told the storm to calm down, and it obeyed! The disciples asked each other, "What kind of man IS this, anyway, that even the wind and waves obeyed him?" You tell me, other than God, what man can command nature, and it has to obey?
I could go on and on and on, the evidence is great, but what I have shared should be enough to convince any HONEST asker that Jesus was the son of God (ie that He was God before he came to earth.)

GOD can create the universe and this is totally acceptable but for a virgin to give birth to a child.. That's nuts?
Yes GOD can have a son and many more sons adopted through this first born. I am one.
Hope that helps.

Apparently . . . But I think it was just the bible's way of explaining how a woman got pregnant and staying a virgin. Like, whoever wrote the bible said "Oh, well this woman who gave birth to Jesus . . . his father couldn't be God, because she was a) still a virgin and b) married to this other guy."
"Oh yeah," said the other person. "We could just say it was magic and God put the baby there." Hence "immaculate conception" was born!! It was a toss up between that, or saying that the mother of Jesus cheated on her husband.
Wouldn't make for very good religious material though!!
