First try drinking plenty of water and getting lots of fiber in your diet. Only use stool softeners if you absolutely have to, because they can cause dependence. Check with your doctor, he/she will be able to help you as this is a frequent side effect of iron supplementation.

Stool softeners, fiber, drink lots of water!! LIght exercise like walking also gets your body to moving and helps to alleviate constipation
