They so can't sack you for sleeping with someone! What did you do about it?

Okay actually I do know two people who got sacked for having a shag on the job, but it was at a kids' summer camp and these two individuals decided to get it on in an area that any of the kids could have walked into and caught them at it.

So what's your story?

I've never been sacked, but the girl who I replaced in my current job almost was - she had had two written warnings so decided to leave before she got sacked. The warnings were for gossipping, because she had shagged one of the guys and then told absolutely everyone. Now, I can't understand why she would have shagged him in the first place, but surely it's her prerogative to tell everyone, if she wants! And even though it's not entirely fair on the guy, how does it justify a written warning - it's not even work-related!

Not me but someone in the company who we all knew. The head of the company (President, CEO, and majority stockholder) was the kind of person who was an absolute dictator. He was on a trip and called back to his office to ask for some information he needed. His secretary was away from her desk and the phone was answered by a young secretary from the area. She provided the info and then at the end of the conversation she said "Bye bye." An hour later when his secretary was at her desk he called back and told her to fire the person who had answered his phone earlier. His reason was that she had said "bye bye" and he did not think that was professional enough for someone speaking to him.

Had an argument with the bosses son, who also worked there because he was too thick to be employed anywhere else.
They based my " unpaid redundancy" on the fact that customers had complained that I was unable to communicate in a professional manner, and they had decided to amalgamate my position.
The big laugh is that within 1 month the so called complainants had terminated their contracts with my ex employer. Who took over the liasion with the customers? the idiot son.

i've never been sacked but i've been made reduntant and paid off before. reason given not enough work, funny how am allways the first to go when all the hard graft was done by me. most pathetic was " sorry but theres not enough work, get well soon thinking off you" this sent to me as a greeting card after i collapsed in work from exhaustion and ended up in hospital.

I've only been sacked once and they never gave me an excuse. I came in one day and my name was no longer on the schedule. I took the hint.

That was my very first paying job.

Decided they wanted someone older. This, after I had been there 3 months' time.

Once, being the only man, the other employees decided to complain to get me fired. They couldn't term me because I was male, so they found all manner of other excuses.
The others wanted an all female workplace.

I haven't been sacked, yet. I've been made redundant (when John Major andMaggie Thatcher's governments started to close inpatient psychiatric hospitals left, right, and centre).
