Do you want him to become a pastor? Which denomination?

He first needs to feel certain that this is his calling. It is not an easy job and does not pay well.

Second, if he is sure, then he must have a thick skin, diplomatic skills, and a firm hold of scripture. Tell him to read Paul's epistles a couple of times to get a feel for what pastoral ministry will be like.

I am close to several pastors in LCC (Lutheran Church Canada) and they are wonderful people in tough but satisfying job. I lack the capacity for the job myself and so they have my respect. Even so, they do endure hardships that most people won't accept. A firm orthodox faith will give your friend the strength to do the job well.

Becoming any sort of pastor takes years of training, it doesn't just happen over-night. Your friend may find out for their self that they don't have the proper dedication for it. Also pastors/ministers are subjected to go through pretty intensive counseling. This isn't a matter that is taken lightly.
By the way your post reads, it seems as though you're against your friend becoming a pastor. Ask yourself why you are against it. Is your reasoning selfish?? Have faith that all work out.

Rather than advice, give support, encouragement, and pray for your friend.

The Divine Call is an awesome responsibility, and a precious gift from God!

I suggest you encourage him to pursue a more honest profession than preying on the gullible.
