With and HD TV I would like to:

Play the xbox 360 on it and and just a little better picture for normal cable. I am not going to use my comuter with it.

What are HDMI inputs and do I need them to play the xbox 360 in HD?

What TV is best under $750 with 780p and at least 26 inches?

You do not need HDMI to play your 360 in HD. The HD component cables are sufficient for playing HD on the 360. Only newer 360's are compatible with the MS issued HDMI cable anyway. The 32" 720p sharp aquos is beautiful and about 800 bucks. Do not cheap out on a TV for playing video games. Cheap tvs have lag and ghosting sometimes.

It's a great way to go.

HDMI is a single cable that carries video and audio in a digital format.

There are 'issues' with HDMI, but for the most part, the industry is requiring HD video to use HDMI.

You want a budget HDMI cable to run audio & video to the TV. Monoprice is a good place for inexpensive cables.

For the xBox - you COULD use the HD cables, but then you also need to send L/R audio to the TV and a single HDMI cable is cheaper.
