i don't get offended unless i know for certain someone is trying to be offensive. i am tired of getting all these uber-Christian greeting cards from my folks year after year...they know i don't believe what they do, yet each year they ramp up the religiosity of their mail. i am dead serious, every year they get me "worship Jesus" cards...so i intend to give cards intended to equally annoy this year.

i don't think you understand. perhaps you live in a bubble, and have never see or experienced religious persecution or discrimination. but the fact is, everyone has a right to air their religious beliefs, whether you think to do so is childish or not. personally, i define getting so worked up over a joke made by a stranger to be much more childish, but to each his own.

i see you overlooked the joke part. grats on being a witch. however, i would have mistaken you for another word, which rhymes with witch. maybe you will find this joke "childish" enough for you? perhaps you would like to spout some more judgment or condemnation? i eagerly await your next hissy fit. maybe if you would allow email we could do this there - but i guess you got tired of the hate mail from being such a prick to others. i understand.

Luckily, you're not the only one who feels this way. I am constantly looking for Pagan comebacks to all the stupid "prayer" emails I get!!!

Here are places that sell Yule cards:

Saturnalia Greetings

Can't help you on the Saturnalia part, but Wyrd's Way has some really cool Asatru cards. Most are blank and you write what you want. It's where I get my Yule cards. Just so you know, christmas is a made up holiday. It is actually called Yule, and the first day of the 12 days of Yule starts on the 22nd. The night before is called mother night. Each day of Yule is a representation of a month. Originally gifts were given on all 12 days. The last day was called 12th night and was a big celebration with bonfires and feasts. See, it's a rip off to just celebrate christ-mass you get cheated out of 11 days.

That's a great idea. I'm sure such things exist, but I haven't seen them. But I'm a graphic designer...I'd love to come up with something like that and produce it. I'll let ya know...lol.

It's true that certain "Christians" love to take the opportunity of the season to push their religion on others. And of course, if you object at all, they try to flip the tables and pretend they're being "persecuted." All this in spite of the fact that Christmas is just a hijacked pagan holiday, and has morphed into a secular feast of consumerism and capitalism.

And look - let's get real here. Many, probably most, people don't intend anything untowards by sending out Christmas cards...lol. And I don't take it personally in the vast majority of cases. But there ARE the nutcase zealots who really DO take advantage of the holiday to try to force Jesus on people, and it really IS offensive, and it's intended to be.

We are all special. Every person is unique. And as we grow we can become even more unique. At the core of our uniqueness is our 'diamond'. We are born: Full of calm, joy and hope; Intelligent, curious and creative; Zestful, courageous, strong; Cooperative, loving, lovable and giving, And most importantly loving ourselves. However - as life progresses and the people around us have a vested interest in our conformity - this is stopped and an attempt is made to make us conform to others image of what we should be. And thus the defence mechanisms are born. These are for us to survive in a world which demands our subserviently. Those who would have us believe otherwise are just people who have to control. This is their defence mechanism. The right wing and extreme religious need us to be good little conforming lap dogs so we will obediently follow them into their hell, which is what they create on earth to justify the mythical heaven. THROW OFF YOUR CHAINS - DISCOVER HOW UNIQUE YOU ARE - YOU DO NOT NEED A GREETINGS CARD - JUST THE GUTS TO EXPLORE WHO YOU REALLY ARE. Believe me - if Hitler had been helped to see his and others specialness 100 million people would not have died. Love and peace to you

First, it's good you see and know that Jesus doesn't accept worship that is tainted with paganism. That includes the pagan festive rites and ritual that have been accepted as christian.
Sad to say, the people that send you the cards, though not willing to leave man made traditions like christmas, are doing it out of kindness in their hearts.
That doesn't make it right. And it shows their willingness to remain blind. But they do it because they feel it's right. Regardless the proof that it's wrong.

Accept their cards. Read them. Throw the cards away.
You'll do a lot better if you just continue to 'pull them out of the fire', as Paul put it, but using reason 'seasoned with salt'.
Rather than get offensive.

"so i intend to give cards intended to equally annoy this year."

Well that's awfully mature of you.

Me, I'd go with "Seasons Greetings" - no need to be a prick about it. If you want to be treated like an adult with your own adult choices, quit acting like a child. Just because THEY'RE immature and annoying doesn't mean that YOU have to be.

"Pagan comebacks"? Geeze. Why do you need to have a "comeback"? Do you need to get someone else's validation or approval for your beliefs? Do you need to have the "I'm right you're wrong" attitude that so many Pagans decry in other religions?

Grow up, y'all.

"wouldn't you want to send the message "stop" since asking doesn't seem to work. judge not, sweetie. oh, and merry christmas and happy new year."

No, actually, I wouldn't. What's the point? You're not going to change them, they're not going to change you, and wasting your time and energy on something so stupid is immature and childish. You're an adult, you have your own life, so unless you're still living with them and controlled by them, what real effect does it have on your daily existence?

But hey - whatever floats your boat, I guess. Can't imagine why your parents might be treating you like a child, since you seem to like acting like one.

And before you get any further afield on your "well you've never been persecuted" high horse... I'm Wiccan. And there's a difference between AIRING your religious beliefs, and being a prick about them. And going out of your way to intentionally annoy someone isn't airing your religious beliefs, it's being a prick about them.

I don't really care what they do as I only shake out cards to see if they have cash in them (no matter *who* sends them) and then throw them into the recycling......

Maybe you should send out home made Festivus cards?

Maybe you have found an idea that would be better put into action as a opposed to sharing in a public forum like this.
