We took ours to a pediatric neurologist because they thought the bones in the skull might not be developing properly. There was a flat spot and he was a preemie so they didnt want to rule anything out. They even did a cat scan. This was though when our son was only 6 months.

However the exam was mainly questions to us, on his development, even things that seemed redundant to what we thought we already answered. And by far the most thorough exam we ever were through.

It turned out to not be anything serious, but the thing I did remember there are strict regulations before the cat scan, also no cold medicines or anything can be in their system (in case they need to use a sedative) So if this is or may be part of your exam, you might want to look into that.

Good luck.
