Harvard Medical Journal revealed mental illness is a serious plague in the USA, with over 25% already diagnosed and being treated for some form of mental illness; With experts fearing another 30% is mentally ill, but not yet diagnosed or being treated. Could there be a connection to religions, churches, and what they preach and teach to these people?
Christ is the end of the law: Romans 10:4; Eph 2; Etc.
Thereby ye are not under the law, but under grace.
In Christ there is no law = no sin = no death sting...
Romans 4:15; 5:13; 1Corinthians 15:56, Etc.
If justified by law, then fallen from grace: Gal 5:4.
If fallen from grace, Christ is of "no effect to you".
Hmmm, isn't this a tad more serious than illness?
Didn't Jesus speak of a latter end worse than illness?

I have been observing your questions for a couple of days and I just want to tell you that this may not be a satisfying forum for you. This place is very public. The ideas and thoughts advanced here may be a bit Basal and Thalamus.

After observing a lot of mentally ill patients I can tell you, psychology can tell you, that mental illness is in direct correlation with unsolved life issues, and loss and problems that haven't been dealt with. Call them 'open accounts', if you wish. One of those issues is peace with God. Another is stress. The other issues are related to their lifestyle, some kind of controversy between their belief system and practice thereof. A lot of is is just educated guess, and for the sake of being politically correct, psychiatrists and shrinks will not admit any correlation with religion, or God, because that is deemed 'prejudiced', but if you want to stay blind to the facts, that's a personal choice.
People who are facing death are reacting different to that very moment depending on their stand with God. People who fear God pass away peacefully, while people whom never believed nor considered God as an alternative, pass away in an unbelievable freakishness. After 10 years of working in the mentally ill field, I have seen many pass away, and it always comes to the same conclusion. But you're not allowed to judge. At best you can offer your personal opinion. Truth be told, both religious people and non-religious people suffer from mental illness. For most who believe in God and thus profess their faith accordingly, there's a promise of a sound mind in the Bible. Then how come Christians face mental illness? I call it compromise. You flirt with sin, you compromise, and most of the time you're stuck in that situation because it hurts your pride to reconsider and to admit you were wrong. Christians are just like the rest of the people, imperfect. The only thing that differentiates a Christian from a non-Christian is a relationship with God with everything that it entails.
True statement: just because you aren't a Christian, doesn't mean you will end up mentally ill. And it goes the other way. Just because you are a Christian doesn't mean you are mentally ill. Insanity is not simple at all. I can't agree totally with your question... but I am sure that's it plays a part in the whole ensemble regarding the issue of insanity.
Bottom line, don't feed on cliche's that you hear or read somewhere, they are merely meant to make a point, or used as memory cues. Cliche's are simplistic, the truth has more information, therefore it's whole. If you want to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help you God! Search for the whole truth...
And to those who love to put down God fearing people, shame on you! Just because you have an issue here, will not justify you to be a bully against those who believe. Wake up and smell the coffee. You don't know everything either! You choose to believe in something else, even if you call that 'nothing'. I bet if you were caught in the eye of a hurricane, you'd pray to every deity you have denied!

I will admit to not being the brightest bulb in the marquee, but after struggling to understand this question, not the motives behind it, just the question, I can't really find an honest, non-rhetorical question in your ramblings. Apparently most of the people who responded could not find a real question either. Had you ever considered the operation of the spirit with the soul, you would undoubtedly be less confused about spirituality and mental illness. I have to wonder if you are in the 25% or the 30%.

Where the law ends, Christ begins. The law ends with representative sacrifices; Christ begins with the real offering. The law is our schoolmaster to lead us to Christ; it cannot save, but it leaves us at his door, where alone salvation is to be found.
Where there is no law there is no transgression, because we would not know what a transgression is. The law exists to tell us what is good and evil,
They had been brought into the grace of the Gospel; and now, by readopting the Mosaic ordinances, they had apostatized from the Gospel as a system of religion, and had lost the grace communicated to their souls, by which they were preserved in a state of salvation.

Does the Harvard medical journal imply the religious overtones or did you come up with that yourself?
Thought so.

Not sure if I am reading this correctly, but I'm thinking you have to be mentally ill to believe in invisible super people with +5 magic and dexterity.
